Signs of a malfunctioning thyroid gland.
The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland that produces substances that have a huge impact on the correctness of metabolic processes in the body. Its secret is involved in almost all vital biochemical reactions. But disorders in the functioning of the thyroid gland can differ depending on which function of this organ is impaired.
Disorders of the thyroid gland are reduced to three pathologies:
- excessive production of hormones,
- lack of hormone production,
- pathology is not the function of the thyroid gland, but its morphological structure (proliferation).
In this regard, signs of a malfunction of the thyroid gland can be divided into three categories.
Insufficient production of thyroid hormones is accompanied by a number of symptoms:
- fast fatigue, chronic fatigue,
- the rate of efficiency decreases,
- violations of memory processes,
- menstrual irregularities,
- deterioration of the quality of nails, hair, skin,
- swelling,
- quick set of excess weight.
Signs of overproduction of pancreatic hormones are accompanied by:
- weight loss,
- elevated body temperatures,
- increased sweating,
- violations of thermoregulation,
- attacks of tachycardia,
- sleep disorders,
- increased excitability and irritability.
In the absence of violations of hormonal production in the thyroid gland, morphological changes in the increase in the size of the gland can be visually seen when it begins to bulge, which in everyday life is called "goiter".
Since the hormones of the thyroid gland are responsible for the correct course of the processes of cell formation, trophic functions, and the functioning of the immune system, malfunctions in such an organ as the thyroid gland are always reflected in the general state of the body. For this reason, any poor health with vague symptoms can be a sign of abnormalities in the work of this gland and requires an examination by an endocrinologist.
