Diet for the prevention of kidney stones
According to the World Health Organization, about 13% of the world's population suffers from kidney stones. This process is facilitated by environmentally unfavorable living conditions, poor quality nutrition, and a sedentary lifestyle. All these factors contribute to the development of abnormal phosphorus-calcium metabolism, which underlies stone formation in the kidneys and bladder.
Data from the chemical composition of the studied kidney stones indicate that kidney stones contain about 200 component substances in various combinations, and these components form kidney stones through the consumption of poorly purified or completely unpurified water (taken directly from natural sources). Such chemical components enter the body from refined and canned food products, undergo chemical reactions in the body, which, having failed to properly process and dissolve them, removes them through the filtration system - the kidneys and bladder. This is where they settle because their size is not small enough to easily leave the human body.
There are a number of food products that contain substances that are especially dangerous for the filtration and urinary system, since the body cannot dissolve these substances. For example, plant foods that increase urine acidity (sour, salty and spicy) in combination with large amounts of calcium-containing foods contribute to the formation of kidney stones. Using the example of a regular set of food products, this means that frequent consumption of Sorrel, Spinach, Grapes, Figs, sour natural fruits, vegetables and berries, canned vegetables and fruits with vinegar and salt, and other products that contain a large amount of oxalic acid, Ascorbic acid, acetic acid, in combination with lactic acid and dairy products (including chocolate, cocoa, cheeses) create the preconditions for kidney stone formation.
According to nutritional rules, products containing Calcium and Fluorine must be consumed in combination with products containing vitamin D (these substances in the company are able to create conditions for the absorption of Calcium and Fluorine, and not for their deposits).
Green vegetables and fruits with a high content of the natural acids listed above are consumed with plant and animal protein foods (legumes, meat, fish and seafood).
You should avoid canned food, including dried or salted meat and fish products, too salty and peppery cheeses (sharp cheeses), and salted or pickled vegetables and fruits. It is also necessary to exclude from use recipes for preparing salads from fresh vegetables, fruits and berries with sour or salty sauces or spices.
Dairy and lactic acid products are combined in the diet with grain crops (porridge, baked goods, pasta).
Drinks in the form of canned juices, industrial lemonade, and mineral water also contribute to the formation of kidney stones.
Alcoholic and semi-alcoholic drinks (combined alcoholic cocktails and milk-alcohol cocktails) are unacceptable for the diet for the prevention of kidney stones. Wines and soft drinks made from grapes contribute to the formation of kidney stones in their most unpleasant composition, which cannot be dissolved by drugs and requires surgical intervention.
Some medications, as well as foods, contribute to the formation of kidney stones. For example, preparations with a high content of Calcium and Fluoride in combination with preparations containing Ascorbic acid (vitamin C). If there is a need to take such medications, then the time of taking them must be divided into long breaks between taking medications. In this case, you need to consult a doctor who will draw up the correct regimen for taking medications so that the medications are absorbed by the body separately.
If kidney stones (sand) were not detected during the examination of urine, kidneys and bladder, then a diet for the prevention of kidney stone formation will be useful to everyone who cares about their health in advance. If any hints of a tendency to form kidney stones are found during medical studies, then the diet should be used selectively:
- There are a number of diseases that contribute to the formation of Oxalate stones, in which oxalic, ascorbic, acetic acids and dairy products are harmful.
- Some diseases contribute to the formation of Urate stones, in which meat and fish are harmful.
- If there is a tendency to form Phosphate stones, the consumption of dairy products, vegetables and fruits is limited, but it is recommended to consume foods of protein origin (vegetable and animal) and fatty foods, which may include vegetable and animal fats.
In any of these cases, the diet for the prevention of kidney stones must be adjusted by the doctor based on laboratory and hardware examinations.
