Schizophrenia - signs and causes.
Schizophrenia is a frightening diagnosis. Let's figure out whether it is as scary as it seems, and what is the essence of the disease. Schizophrenia - translated from the Greek “split consciousness” - is a disorder of mental activity, diverse in its manifestations. Split consciousness should not be confused with a split personality. When they talk about the splitting of consciousness, they mean that at the moment of illness, a person experiences an inadequate perception of the surrounding reality (incorrect processing by the brain and assessment by consciousness) and, accordingly, an inadequate reaction (behavior) to erroneously processed events.
To date, there are no hard symptoms of schizophrenia, as this disorder has multiple manifestations, sometimes unpredictable. But when making a diagnosis, they are guided by a certain set of rules, tests that allow one to identify the very deviations from the norm, statistically established for the characteristics of the psyche of a healthy person.
Signs of schizophrenia can include:
- committing actions that contradict the generally accepted logic of human behavior;
- sensations or visions that arise in a person, but do not correspond to reality;
- unmotivated anxiety, excessive fuss, talkativeness;
- sudden unreasonable aggression.
Schizophrenia is a chronic relapsing disease that manifests itself in seizures, but during the period of remission, a person feels and behaves like a healthy psyche. In severe cases, schizophrenic delusions can lead to situations that are dangerous to the health of others, since a person suffering from an attack of schizophrenia is not aware of their own actions.
The causes of schizophrenia lie deep in the area of organic disorders of the brain. Disability occurs when a person suffering from schizophrenia cannot live, work, in general, perform actions that allow him to organize a normal life and not create dangerous moments for others.
