Signs and treatment of male menopause.
A lot of literature has been written about the female menopause, but very little covers the topic of male menopause, believing that under the conditions of aging of the male body, there is no sharp drop in the level of hormones, and men remain capable of reproduction until old age.
But this fact is not beneficial to men's health, since the early development of menopause in men can be subtle, and measures not taken in time will cause an early decrease in sexual activity and psychological problems in men who do not understand what exactly is happening to them.
A pathological decrease in the level of androgens (testosterone) can occur for various reasons:
- disturbances in the work of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus - the main regulators of testosterone production,
- disturbances in the work of the adrenal cortex,
- disorders in the reproduction of Leyding cells in the testes,
- with age, the concentration of globulin increases in the blood, which binds more testosterone, and thereby reduces the concentration of free (active) testosterone in the blood,
- injuries to the genitals (in particular the testicles),
- chemical and radiation chronic effects on the organs of testosterone production,
- excessive neuro-emotional upheavals in a chronic form,
- frequent inflammatory and infectious diseases in the testicular area.
Signs of male menopause:
- sexual desire disorders,
- decrease in the duration of intercourse,
- fatty deposits in areas not typical for the male body,
- increased irritability, insomnia,
- decrease in muscle mass,
- development of disorders in the genitourinary sphere,
- cardiovascular disorders,
- development of diabetes mellitus.
Treatment of male menopause is carried out by timely hormone replacement therapy. Although male menopause is a natural process, it can be slowed down and a full sex life can be prolonged for many years.
