Prolapse of the uterus and vagina.
Prolapse of the genitals in women - prolapse of the vagina and uterus - their exit beyond the genital slit refers to hernial protrusions.
The causes of prolapse of the uterus and vagina lie in the dysfunction of the pelvic floor closure muscles. There are many factors that can trigger vaginal and uterine prolapse:
- violation of the innervation of the pelvic floor muscles,
- increased intra-abdominal pressure with severe coughing, constipation, pushing, lifting weights,
- loss of fatty tissue that holds the organs in an anatomically correct position,
- displacement of the abdominal organs, causing a reciprocal downward displacement of the uterus,
- injuries at home and during childbirth,
- muscle weakness in the diaphragm and abdomen.
Prolapse of the genitals in women can develop to varying degrees: from partial displacement and prolapse without going beyond the genital slit to completely exiting the genital slit.
Signs of vaginal and uterine prolapse:
- a feeling of discomfort in the perineum,
- organs can be visually visible,
- a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen,
- protruding organs interfere with walking,
- the acts of defecation and urination are violated,
- discomfort and pain during intercourse,
- the genital slit is always open.
Treatment of prolapse of the vagina and uterus is carried out using surgery. The amount of surgical intervention depends on the degree of organ prolapse, the possibility of their reduction and fixation in the abdominal cavity. For women of childbearing age, they try to preserve the organs of childbearing by suturing them to the abdominal wall. There are several types of surgery, including plastic surgery, shortening of stretched tissues, and attachment in various ways to adjacent abdominal tissues.
