Medicine questions >>>> Hematuria is blood in the urine
Hematuria is blood in the urine.
Any bleeding of unknown origin always causes panic. And if blood begins to flow from somewhere from the depths of the body, it is doubly terrible. So, having found blood in the urine, that is, a change in the color of urine towards brown-red shades, many people panic.
Blood in the urine or hematuria is a symptom indicating that somewhere along the urinary system there is a lesion (inflammation or injury) that is bleeding. Visible to the naked eye, blood-stained urine or urine with drops of blood should alert the person. Very often the body itself signals where the "leak" is located.
For example, if you notice signs of blood in your urine and you have a stomach or lower back ache, then most likely it is in the kidneys or ureters, in which inflammation or traumatic damage to the walls of the organs by a moving stone can develop.
If, in the presence of blood in the urine, you suffer from frequent urge to empty the bladder and feel pain in the bladder area (in the lower abdomen closer to the groin area), then the case may be associated with a tumor in the bladder or with a stone trapped in the bladder (kidney calculus), which injures the walls of the bladder.
If the visible blood in the urine is accompanied by difficulty urinating, a thin stream of urine, burning sensation and pain when urinating, then most likely you are dealing with an injury or inflammation of the urethra, or inflammation of the prostate or its tumor (in men). In women, blood in the urine may be due to uterine bleeding.
With asymptomatic bleeding with blood in the urine, things are worse. Internal organs may be affected by external trauma or the process of tissue proliferation has taken on a threatening character. In any of the above cases, blood in the urine with or without symptoms is a reason to go to the doctor for a thorough examination of the internal organs.
It so happens that blood in the urine is detected only during the delivery of tests, that is, it is invisible. This fact can speak of hidden and painlessly ongoing inflammatory processes, which also requires a study of the state of internal organs. Each specific case of hematuria is treated separately according to the extent of the identified pathology. Excessive bleeding requires hemostatic medications.
