Antiseptics with a coloring effect

Antiseptics with a coloring effect (or aniline antiseptics) are substances for external use for superficial disinfection of shallow wounds, cuts, punctures, abrasions, cracks in the skin and mucous membranes, mucous erosions, pustular skin lesions, and minor burns.

The basis of such antiseptics are substances with a slight antibacterial or antifungal effect. Each of the aniline antiseptics contains natural dyes, which allow distinguishing substances by color. The color of such antiseptics is persistent on the surface layers of the skin. But mucous surfaces do not retain the color for long. The durability of the color of aniline antiseptics provides a long-term disinfection effect, and also allows you to control the contour of the area of treatment of the damaged surface.

There are several types of antiseptics with a coloring effect:

Brilliant green - antibacterial effect,
Methylene blue - antibacterial and antifungal effect,
Fukortsin (Fuchsia color) – bacteriostatic and antifungal effect.

As a rule, aniline antiseptics are used to stop the spread of infection from the site of injury, to disinfect the edges of wounds, to dry out injured areas of the skin and mucous membranes, and to have a mild cauterizing effect.

A special feature of antiseptics with a coloring effect is the possibility of using them together with other preparations, which are applied to the affected area of the mucous membrane or skin after the aniline antiseptic has dried.

Antiseptics with a coloring effect are prepared in alcohol or water solutions (1-3%). These ready-made antiseptic solutions can also be diluted in water and used to wash wound surfaces, for example, when antiseptic treatment of the wound surface is required by irrigation.

The convenience of using antiseptics with a coloring effect at home allows you to independently provide first aid for minor injuries of various origins or treat pustules and other skin lesions that require a drying effect.

Methylene blue dye, in addition to external use, is used for diagnostics of the urinary tract, as well as for baths for cystitis, urethritis, and abrasions of the genitals.

The use of Fukortsin should be supervised by a doctor, since this drug can have a toxic effect when used for a long time and when treating large areas of the skin. It can penetrate the bloodstream through the skin and have a toxic effect on the body as a whole.

All aniline dyes are capable of permanently coloring fabric, suede and leather clothing, as well as fabric, leather, suede and artificial leather shoes without the possibility of removing such stains.
