Aspermia is the cause of infertility.
There are a number of pathological conditions when seminal fluid in men is either absent at all, or is produced by low-quality cells - defective spermatozoa - aspermia. These disorders are the cause of infertility in men.
Causes of aspermia:
- congenital anomalies in the structure and function of the genitals and seminiferous organs (testicles);
- trauma to the organs of the pelvic region and genitals, accompanied by a violation of their function;
- surgical interventions in childhood, resulting in a violation of the function of the genital organs;
- age-related changes in the function of the genitals and the quality of the sperm produced;
- psychological disorders that cause dysfunction of the genital area;
- spinal or brain injuries, as a result of which the innervation and functioning of the organs of the reproductive system are disrupted.
In the absence of semen, the genital organs are diagnosed in order to detect inflammation, tumors and other disorders that block ejaculation. Any chronic inflammation can provoke blockage of the seminal canal and create obstacles to ejaculation.
In case of unsatisfactory sperm quality, abnormalities in the area of the organs producing sperm are detected.
For diagnostics, hardware studies of ultrasound of the pelvic organs and genitals, transrectal ultrasound are carried out. Bacteriological and microscopic examination of the composition of urine can indicate the causes of aspermia, in this way it is established whether there is retrograde ejaculation, that is, the release of sperm into the bladder.
Treatment for aspermia depends on the pathology identified. In the case of blockage of sperm output, surgical interventions are performed to remove the blocking factor, for example, dilation of the seminiferous tubule in case of stricture (narrowing of the passage or collapse of its walls). In a situation where the semen cells themselves are not viable or their structure is defective, the work of the semen-producing organ system is corrected. If it is impossible to restore the full composition of sperm, reproductive technologies are used.
