Digestive problems in animals - dysbiosis.
Diseases of animals are not very different from those of humans. And indigestion is very often caused not by a violation of enzymatic activity, but by a violation of the intestinal microflora of the animal. Cats and dogs suffer from digestive upsets, but pet owners often look in the wrong area for the cause.
This is due to the fact that cats and dogs tend to pick up food and eat it in unsanitary conditions, but their body is adapted to such a situation, and high resistance to pathogenic microorganisms helps to avoid poisoning. But in the case when the microbiological climate in the pet's intestines is disturbed, there is a high probability that the cat or dog will experience chronic digestive upset.
Signs of dysbiosis in cats and dogs:
Dysbiosis in animals is hidden behind disorders such as:
- constipation or diarrhea,
- development of gastritis, ulcers,
- reduced immunity, causing frequent infections of viral and bacterial etiology,
- liver damage,
- infections of the mucous membranes (eyes, mouth, genitourinary system).
For chronic diseases of the pet is also intestinal dysbiosis.
How is gut dysbiosis treated in cats and dogs? Before starting the treatment of dysbiosis, it is established which pathogenic microorganisms have exceeded their quantitative composition and do not allow the beneficial microflora to fully multiply. Pet excrement analyzes allow you to establish the current composition of the intestinal microflora. After identifying strains of pathogenic microorganisms that provoke intoxication, antibiotics are used. After a while after the course of antibiotics, a control analysis is carried out and the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy is diagnosed. With severe viral or fungal infection, targeted therapy with antiviral or antifungal drugs is required. The mainstay of treatment for dysbiosis in cats and dogs are lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, which are dissolved in water and given to the animal immediately before eating to create conditions that improve the digestion of food.
For animals, you can use the same probiotics (bacteria) as for humans, but bacteria are not added to hot or warm food for an animal, since living organisms can die before they enter the digestive tract and complete their mission. Special products - probiotics for animals - Olin, Lactobifadol, Lactobifid.
Probiotic cultures of spore-forming bacteria can be used to treat intestinal infections in a pet without antibiotic therapy.
