Diet for acidosis.
A lowered pH level in various environments of the body indicates a shift in the level of the acid component towards an increase in its percentage in the blood and other environments of the body. There are plenty of reasons for the violation of the acid-base balance in the body, and they are strongly associated with metabolic processes at the cellular level. A person may feel unpleasant symptoms of high acidity at the metabolic level: weakness, indigestion (diarrhea), increased heart rate, but do not attach importance to these signs in relation to the increased level of acid residues in the body. The body uses acids, or rather their residues, to carry out metabolic processes, but when compensatory mechanisms that balance the acid and alkaline components do not work in the body, a phenomenon occurs, which in medicine is called acidosis - acidification of the body.
The increased acidity of the blood and other environments is a large-scale disruption of metabolic processes, and it is not possible to restore balance only with the help of dietary nutrition. But a diet with high acidity in case of a violation of the acid-base balance has as its goal to reduce the intake of excess acids from outside and not to overload the body with acid residues.
The first and most important rule when following a diet in case of high acidity is a large amount of water, which must be consumed as part of the diet. Water enters all environments of the body and helps to reduce the percentage of acid residues.
Green vegetables, berries and fruits contain the largest amount of natural acids, but not all of them acidify the body. Many fruits and vegetables, raw or boiled, work in favor of alkalizing media, so there are some guidelines to follow with these foods. Sorrel and spinach, tomatoes, citrus fruits, plums, cherries, pineapple, strawberries, apples, currants, and cranberries are especially abundant in acids. Better to switch to "sweet" vegetables (zucchini, pumpkin, beets, carrots, turnips, Jerusalem artichoke, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, lettuce, cabbage lettuce, asparagus, okra, artichoke, mushrooms) and fruits ( figs, dates, grapes, apricots, peaches, papaya, bananas, watermelons, melons, pears, mangoes, cherries).
Protein compounds form acidic residues during metabolic processes, so meat, dairy, fish and legumes are products that increase acidity in the body. If you add fats to them, then you get the ideal suppliers of acids to the body. Therefore, with a diet that lowers the acidity in the body, the installation is made on low-fat varieties of meat and fish and on methods of preparing meat and fish products that exclude fats. Meat and fish broths, fatty sour cream and cream, high-fat cottage cheese and cheeses are not suitable for a diet with acidosis. It is advisable to soak legumes to alkalize the product before cooking.
White bread, baked goods, and pasta are not suitable for acidosis diets.
The acidosis diet includes vegetable and mashed soups, mashed vegetable garnishes (mashed beans, mushroom purées, mashed potatoes, cabbage purées, beet purées, carrot purées, squash and pumpkin purees).
Grain porridges are useful for acidosis, provided they are presoaked and boiled: rice, buckwheat, pearl barley, millet.
Ideal for acidosis jelly from fruits and cereals (rice, oat).
Nuts are considered acidic products, but if they are pre-soaked in water for one to one and a half hours, then the nuts are suitable for nutrition in acidosis.
All those vegetables and fruits that contain acids in high concentration are converted into products that are acceptable for acidosis, provided they are heat treated - baking, boiling, stewing, blanching.
Do not confuse increased acidity in the stomach with increased acidity with a shift in the acid-base balance in the body as a whole. Increased acidity in the gastrointestinal tract is a violation of enzymatic activity in the gastrointestinal tract, and not a form of manifestation of acidosis. For example, to reduce the level of acid in the stomach, dairy products are useful, and to restore the acid-base balance associated with metabolic disorders, they are harmful. Therefore, you should know exactly the name of the disease you are fighting with: metabolic acidosis or increased production of the enzyme hydrochloric acid.
