How to use Sage in home cosmetology?
The Sage plant in all its species diversity is familiar to everyone who is interested in culinary seasonings. Sage is very popular in the cuisine of the peoples of Asia, the Caucasus countries and the Mediterranean countries as a spice. But in its chemical composition, Sage is very close to herbal medicine plants, especially those of its methods that allow you to treat skin diseases. It is the juice or essential oil of Sage, which is rich in its leaves, buds, flowers, and, especially, seeds, which has in its composition useful for dermatology, and, of course, for cosmetology, substances with the properties of disinfecting and healing various skin inflammations and pustular infection. Essential oils of Sage are able to neutralize a focal infection in the skin or mucous membrane, and thereby stop the further development of the inflammatory or purulent process.
To a greater extent, the type of Sage with the name "Salvia officinalis" (botanical name "Folia Salviae") has a pharmaceutical effect. Its composition is similar to preparations of Zinc and Boric acid, which are usually used as anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing external agents for the treatment of skin acne, as well as for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections of the mouth and throat (inflammation and suppuration of the oral mucosa and throat). In addition to using Sage home remedies for skin and mucous membranes as rinses and applications, Sage infusions can be effective in improving the quality of the skin in the hairline and the location of the sweat glands. Science knows that the essential oils of Sage officinalis are able to reduce the secretion of sweat glands, which allows you to effectively treat skin with diseases provoked by hypersecretion of sweat glands, such as prickly heat or skin irritation in the armpits, groin, elbows or popliteal folds. Excessive sweat secretion often creates the prerequisites for the development of many skin problems, as it is a factor involved in creating a favorable environment for the uncontrolled reproduction of harmful microorganisms.
You can prepare cleansing and soothing masks for the face and other problem areas of the skin at home with sage essential oils, and you can also prepare infusions for rinsing the mouth and throat at home in order to improve the condition of the mucous membrane and heal inflammation and suppuration. Sage infusions can be used for baths or wiping problem areas of the skin, for applications on the mucous membrane.
Infusion using leaves and seeds of Sage.
To prepare a concentrated infusion of Sage leaves (or Sage seeds), fresh Sage leaves or seeds are first ground in a mortar, poured with boiling water (in proportion: one volume of fresh leaves and seeds to one volume of water) and allowed to infuse for an hour. The infusion is filtered and used as a rinse, compresses or treatment of problematic skin or mucous membranes. The concentrated infusion is diluted in a ratio of 1:3 and is also used to wash the skin of head and hair.
Mask recipe with Sage.
Grind in a blender or grind in a mortar one glass of fresh Sage leaves to a paste-like state, add one tablespoon of fresh apple puree to the mass of Sage. Mix the ingredients until a homogeneous consistency and apply to the area of problem skin (face, back, neckline), hold the mask for 20 - 30 minutes and rinse with water at room temperature. The Sage mask allows for deep cleansing of the skin.
Oral cavity processing with the use of Sage.
It is necessary to grind fresh Sage leaves in a mortar to the consistency of a paste and treat the teeth or gums (teeth and gums) with the resulting paste, holding the paste for 10-15 minutes on the teeth or mucous membranes. Next, rinse the Sage Paste with water and rinse your mouth thoroughly. Sage paste has a whitening effect, and the gums around the teeth will become healthier. Sage paste can be mixed with toothpaste (at a ratio where a teaspoon of toothpaste is a quarter teaspoon of Sage paste) and brush your teeth regularly with a fresh mixture of toothpaste and Sage leaf paste. This is the prevention of dental caries and gingivitis.
