Temporary dentures.
Temporary dentures are often one of the stages of prosthetics, when it is necessary to change the ratio of the dentition (bite), prepare the oral mucosa for planting permanent fixed or removable structures and create comfortable conditions for the patient between visits to the doctor for good nutrition and communication.
For temporary dental prosthetics, plastic crowns and dental bridges, plastic aligners and plastic removable dentures are used. Each of the constructions is designed to solve a specific problem in preparation for the main stages of prosthetics.
Plastic crowns and dental bridges make it possible, in addition to cosmetic aesthetics during periods of dental prosthetics, to properly prepare the tooth turning and shape the gingival margin so that future permanent fixed structures will look natural. During the periods of implant placement, temporary plastic dental bridges and crowns allow you to withstand the time until the tissues around the installed implant are completely healed and to assess the degree of load on it over a certain period of time. Temporary plastic crowns and dental bridges prevent teeth from protruding before contact with antagonists and their movement in relation to adjacent teeth, which makes it possible to carry out dental prosthetics for a sufficiently long time, if such a need exists.
Temporary plastic dental bridges made for chewing teeth are used to separate the bite (for example, in case of pathological abrasion of teeth or traumatic bite). The purpose of such separation is to free up space for a certain height of the future permanent structure and to give the patient time to get used to changes in the work of the temporomandibular joint.
For the same purpose, plastic aligners and removable plate prostheses are used, which I use until the teeth are turned. Plastic aligners are applied to the dentition and allow you to maintain chewing efficiency for the entire period of getting used to the new bite height. Removable plastic lamellar prostheses are applied to the edentulous areas of the jaw in order to get used to the changed working conditions of the temporomandibular joint for a long time. Partially removable and fully removable temporary lamellar dentures are often made in order to allow the mucous membrane of the edentulous prosthetic bed to heal and form after tooth extraction, exostoses, torus and other surgical procedures on the alveolar processes.
Temporary dentures create favorable conditions for the unhurried painstaking work of the dentist - orthopedist and enable the patient to gradually get used to dentures during the period of dental prosthetics, not change the diet and not feel embarrassed about the temporary unpleasant appearance of the prosthetic teeth.
