What are dental strip-crowns?
Very often, dental prosthetics (especially temporary structures of the anterior region) requires a minimum amount of time for their manufacture, which led to the development and creation of dental strip-constructions (dental strip–crowns).
Dental strip-crowns are acrylic copings (presented in 16 shape options, covering all 32 teeth).
Dental strip–crown is an acrylic transparent cap, which is adjusted individually to each tooth, filled with a special filling material to match the patient's tooth and fixed on the previously ground tooth. The whole procedure takes place in one visit to the dentist - prosthetist. Tooth grinding takes place under local anesthesia (or general anesthesia). You can fix any number of dental strip-crowns in one visit.
Application of dental strip–constructions is calculated:
- on children with defects in milk teeth;
- on adults who have defects in the frontal area and do not want to be prosthetic with permanent structures for any reason;
- on temporary structures before dental prosthetics with permanent prostheses.
Execution technique:
- The tooth is grinded under anesthesia (if not pulp) or without anesthesia (if pulp);
- A cap is tried on that matches the shape and size of the tooth (trimmed to length);
- The cap is filled with a fixing material and planted on the stump (it takes time for the filling material to harden under the influence of the light of an ultraviolet lamp);
- Excess acrylic is removed, the cap is adjusted according to the bite.
