Microwave therapy - indications for use.
Microwave therapy (ultra-high-frequency therapy) is a physiotherapeutic method of exposure to the concentrated energy of the electromagnetic field (collected in a beam) on tissues of different density, conductivity and depth, which allows you to change the functional state of individual tissue areas, locally change their temperature by 2-5 degrees and more, stimulate blood circulation, neuroregulation and tissue metabolism reactions.
Microwave therapy is used when it is necessary:
- Reduce the sensitivity of nerve fibers in pain syndrome,
- To stop inflammation in tissues (including in the epidermis and dermis, in joints and ligaments, in the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx and oral cavity, in muscle tissue and the vascular wall),
- Stimulate biochemical processes in tissues (enzymatic activity, hormonal metabolism, oxygen metabolism),
- Carry out a local vasodilating effect in tissues,
- Slow down the processes of fibrosis and activate reparative processes.
Microwave therapy is contraindicated during an acute state, in acute purulent processes, with the potential for bleeding, during a period of elevated body temperature, during pregnancy and in the presence of tumors, in places where acute allergic reactions develop, or in the presence of metal structures (metal fragments) in the tissues.
The indication for the use of microwave therapy is the treatment of chronic inflammatory processes and post-traumatic conditions in the tissues of the musculoskeletal system, in the sinuses and internal parts of the ear, treatment of inflammation of the oropharynx, treatment of dental diseases of the mucous membrane and periodontal disease, treatment of residual effects in the bronchi and lungs, treatment of deep and superficial inflammation of the skin.
