Prevention of recurrence of herpes infection.
As a prophylaxis of recurrences of herpes infection, the "Vitagerpevaq" (made in Russia) vaccine is used. It is an inactivated culture vaccine for intradermal injection. The goal of vaccination is to activate cellular immunity to fight against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2) and to reduce the frequency of relapses. The vaccine is not recommended for children.
Conditions for vaccination - a state of remission (not earlier than five days after the disappearance of the clinical signs of herpes). The entire course of vaccination consists of five injections carried out after seven days and repeated five injections six months later from the previous course.
Contraindications for vaccination:
- Acute periods of diseases of any etiology,
- Stages of exacerbation of chronic diseases,
- Decompensated diseases,
- Malignant neoplasms,
- Allergic reactions to gentamicin and other antibiotics of the aminoglycoside group,
- AIDS in the active phase,
- Pregnancy.
Control of vaccine administration - the formation of a "lemon crust" on the skin.
Side effects:
- Redness of the skin in the area where the vaccine was administered,
- Slight burning sensation at the injection site,
- Temporary temperature rise,
- General weakness.
