Signs of a mental disorder - how to recognize?
Stress, insufficient upbringing, bad character can distort a person's behavior beyond recognition, but they do not change his mental state from normal to illness. Without being a psychiatrist, how can you learn to distinguish where the line between mental disorder and normal behavior lies?
Rudeness, inappropriate reactions, or outright hostility are not always a mental disorder.
Rather, the mental disorder lies in the person's attitude to the world around him, and not specifically to you. For example, signs of a mental disorder might look like this:
- The tendency to dress sloppily, not ironing or washing clothes speaks not of poverty, but of a mental disorder.
- An unstable mood, when joy is abruptly (for no reason) replaced by sadness, sadness - anger, anger - apathy, apathy - joyful excitement, speaks of an unstable psyche.
- Unmotivated aggression, a sharp outburst of rage, outright anger towards a stranger can speak of a smoldering mental illness.
- Excessive jealousy (to self-destruction) and excessive suspicion in any business - this can be the cause of mental deviation.
- Departure from reality into a fantasy world for a long period - speaks of mental disorders.
- Coming up with philosophical theories and following them in real life is a reason to think about mental disorder.
- A dirty home, unwillingness to clean the premises and bring the place of residence to the state of a senseless warehouse of things is a mental illness.
- Sloppy behavior while eating is a reason to think about the state of the human psyche.
- Exposure of the body (intimate places) in public places for the purpose of demonstration is a mental disorder.
It is difficult to make a diagnosis without thoroughly examining human behavior and his perception of the surrounding reality. But the behavioral features listed above should be alarming. Many mental deviations can be corrected without taking medications, but with the participation of a skilled psychotherapist.
