Traumatology >>>> Eye contusion are signs
Eye contusion are signs.
With various types of head injuries, eye contusions can occur. Regardless of whether the injury is directly to the eye or to the adjacent areas of the skull and facial bones, concussion of the eyeball can occur and the force of the impact is transmitted to the eye structures.
Outwardly, an eye contusion is not always clearly visible. Tissue ruptures, hematomas may not be observed. But there are a number of factors that determine the signs of an eye contusion:
- swelling around the eye,
- an increase in the size of the eyeball,
- headache,
- pain when moving the eyes,
- dizziness,
- visual impairment (temporary or long-term) may indicate damage to the eye.
When treating an eye contusion, diagnostics are carried out and specific facts of damage to the eye structures (cornea, eye muscle, sclera, the eyeball itself, the state of the fundus, the presence of rupture of blood vessels) are identified.
Eye contusions are most often accompanied by blows to the head with a blunt object, closed and open craniocerebral trauma, head concussions, blows to the bridge of the nose, to the forehead, and to the jaw.
Treatment of an eye contusion is more successful the earlier the condition is diagnosed. Therefore, the typical signs of an eye contusion must be able to distinguish and pay attention to this condition to the victim himself.
The effects of an eye contusion vary according to the severity of the contusion. In severe contusions associated with rupture of the sclera, damage to the cornea, rupture of the eyelids, etc., requiring surgical intervention, a long period of rehabilitation of the functions of the eye, restoration of destroyed tissues and vision is required.
