Walking in a dream - how to treat?
Sleepwalking or somnambulism is referred to as sleep disorders, when in the 3rd or 4th phase of slow wave sleep a person is not completely relaxed and can unconsciously move, sit, get out of bed, go long distances and return, automatically do some business (including criminal). Somnambulists usually move with open eyes, which can mislead others about the person's condition.
A distinctive feature of somnambulism is the lack of memories of movement and the performance of any actions in a person suffering from this disorder. Sleepwalking usually begins two hours after falling asleep.
Sleep walking can be caused by pre-stress, head trauma, mental illness, excessive fatigue, taking stimulants, drugs, alcohol, and tonic drinks.
Usually, somnambulism manifests itself in childhood or adolescence.
Treatment of walking in a dream comes down to taking sedatives and sleeping pills, controlling the movement of the sufferer with travel during sleep, protecting him from injury, installing restraints on the movement of a person in a dream, complex door locks). People suffering from walking in a dream do not remember this at all and do not control the situation. For this reason, care and increased attention to the sleep period of such people falls on relatives and friends. People with somnambulism are not woken up, but returned to the bedroom and placed on the bed.
Uncontrolled walking in a dream can be dangerous if a person confuses the front door with a balcony or window, if he automatically gets behind the wheel of his car, if he starts to cross the carriageway in a busy place.
