Ovarian rupture.
Ovarian rupture (ovarian apoplexy) is a formidable condition that requires urgent medical procedures.
The reasons for the rupture of the ovary:
- injuries (blows),
- polycystic ovary disease,
- pathology of ovarian tissue,
- intense sports,
- horse riding,
- intense intercourse.
According to the severity of the course, a mild form with minor bleeding, a moderate process and a severe condition with large blood loss are distinguished.
Signs of a ruptured ovary:
Due to the fact that the rupture of the ovary of any complexity is accompanied by bleeding, the signs of poor health are associated with symptoms of internal bleeding:
- dizziness, pallor of the skin,
- light-headedness,
- nausea, urge to vomit is possible,
- acute pain in the lower abdomen, may radiate to the groin, and the rectal area, to the perineum,
- the pain symptom can last up to several hours in a row, or it can stop and resume,
- blood pressure decreases, heart rate increases,
- cooling of the skin is possible, the appearance of perspiration.
Diagnosis of ovarian rupture is carried out by interviewing the patient, based on the results of ultrasound, sometimes a laparoscopic examination is required.
Treatment of an ovarian rupture is carried out laparoscopically, less often the abdominal cavity is opened. Surgical intervention is necessary to eliminate bleeding and suture the site of the ruptured ovary. In case of significant damage to the ovary, its segmental truncation is performed or removed completely. With minor damage to the ovarian tissue, it is possible to eliminate the injury by tissue coagulation at the rupture site. In any case, surgical intervention is aimed at preserving the functions of the ovary and, accordingly, the reproductive function.
