Signs of gastritis in a dog.
Living beings, like humans, can suffer from gastrointestinal disorders. One of the most common eating disorders in dogs is gastritis. Dog gastritis is an inflammatory process that develops in the stomach lining.
The cause of gastritis in a dog is an irregular diet, eating garbage, poisonous plants, and poor quality food.
Dog gastritis can be acute or chronic.
In acute gastritis, the condition of the animal is sharply disturbed. The most striking signs of gastritis in a dog:
- vomiting, which may be indomitable or intermittent,
- the animal can take food and, after a short period of time, regurgitate it,
- in appearance, a dog with an attack of gastritis looks downcast,
- sits with his head hanging,
- may refuse to eat, becomes lethargic.
But it is worth noting that vomiting in a dog is not only a sign of gastritis, but also poisoning, as well as intestinal infection. Due to the fact that it is difficult to independently determine what exactly caused vomiting in a dog, you should not self-medicate, but consult a doctor if vomiting does not stop after a day. It is this period that is given for the independent improvement of the condition in acute gastritis, which can pass without a trace without additional medical measures.
Chronic gastritis in a dog proceeds with symptoms of regular vomiting. The animal may behave normally, but vomit after eating. Chronic gastritis requires medical examination and treatment - drugs to relieve inflammation and heal the mucous layer.
