What is polyphasic sleep?
Sleep is that favorite state of the body, which cannot be too much. One category of people lacks sleep - does not get enough sleep, the other - has the ability to repeat sleep several times during the day, then they talk about polyphasic sleep - multiple periods of falling asleep.
A common occurrence - daytime sleep in addition to nighttime sleep - is not useful for all categories of people, but only for those who have no problems sleeping at night. These people include working youth and middle-aged people, as well as babies. A healthy daytime sleep is an opportunity to restore the body's energy expenditures, and such falling asleep are called energy sleep.
But for older people who do not exercise during the day, daytime sleep can be a factor in provoking nighttime insomnia. If natural fatigue does not occur, then the sleep time is delayed.
Scientists have found that to maintain life support, the body needs five hours of sleep, for good rest and a healthy psyche - at least seven hours of sleep, but this sleep time can be distributed in different ways. Some people practice regular fifteen-minute naps during the day and a short night's sleep, thus recuperating. Then polyphasic sleep from biphasic (night and day) turns into intermittent multiple sleep during the day.
This method is used by people who, due to life circumstances or profession, cannot afford many hours of uninterrupted sleep, for example, truck drivers driving alone, night attendants or travelers who are unable to stay for a long night.
It is believed that it is polyphasic sleep that is beneficial for the body, as it allows you to recover, "reboot" all functional systems during the day many times. Polyphasic sleep increases efficiency, increases the possibilities of intellectual load, and changes the quality of life for the better.
