How to determine your own temperament?
Temperament is a characteristic of human behavior that cannot be controlled, since temperament is given from birth and is inherited. If character can be brought up on one's own, then one can only adapt to temperament. Temperament depends on the type of nervous system and is controlled by the central nervous system.
There are four types of temperament: sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic, which do not exist in their pure form, but one of the types prevails, and according to the characteristics of the signs of temperament prevailing in a person, it is referred to a certain type.
In its purest form, a sanguine person is a cheerful, optimistic and stress-resistant person. A sanguine person easily goes through life, it is impossible to unsettle him with any failures, since he accepts them superficially, he can look aloofly at the most serious things. The sanguine person is easy to communicate, but it is impossible to convince or re-educate him, since he ignores teachings, reproaches and edification, regardless of who is trying to instruct him, a loved one or an outsider. Sanguine people are fickle, frivolous, often lazy and irresponsible, because they do not attach much importance to anything, but they are open, positive and responsive.
In its purest form, a choleric is a person of mood that changes more often than the weather. Choleric is a very purposeful person and is able to achieve his goals, but only if they are of interest to him. The problem of the choleric is that he is very changeable and in relation to achieving goals, he is easily carried away by everything new, but quickly loses interest as soon as the matter becomes routine and monotonous. And this applies to all spheres of life: personal relationships, household chores, work. Choleric has an unpredictable temper and the same unpredictable quickness, which makes him an emotionally open person and quite convenient for communication even in cases of a quarrel. But a choleric person can easily make a scandal and a provocation in order to achieve his goals, and he will not notice at all that his behavior is oppressing someone.
In its purest form, a phlegmatic person is a person with well-controlled emotions, but outwardly seemingly indifferent. The phlegmatic does not like change and decides for a long time to change the course of life, but in a stressful situation he will quickly switch to the necessary life path without unnecessary conflicts. If the chosen path or the forced path of life suits the phlegmatic, then he will systematically go towards the goal. In its purest form, a melancholic is always a worried person, regardless of the occasion. Any incident, even one that does not concern him personally, will cause him many emotions of various kinds. The melancholic in any situation first evaluates the difficulties associated with it, and after that he notices the positive aspects. The melancholic easily loses control of his emotions and likes to "delve into yourself". The melancholic takes the surrounding life seriously and approaches all matters thoroughly.
A very simple test will show what your temperament has, you just need to choose the reaction that corresponds to your own behavior in the situation described below. In the case when a vacation was planned for a long time, suitcases were packed, a ticket was purchased with difficulty, suddenly at the last moment it is necessary to abandon the long-awaited event and go to work:
- Sanguine will begin to laugh uncontrollably and easily switch to other types of recreation, allowing them to be combined with work;
- Choleric will come into a rage state and begin to swear not only with the perpetrators of the disruption of the rest, but also with the surrounding loved ones;
- Phlegmatic will silently sort out the suitcases and doomedly goes to work, after a short philosophizing;
- Melancholic for a long time he will silently take offense at everyone who ruined his vacation, and get upset about an unfortunate set of circumstances.
Choleric people and melancholic people easily shake the nervous system from any unforeseen circumstances, only choleric people do it in the direction of a short-term scandal, and melancholic people - in the direction of a deep and long resentment.
Phlegmatic and sanguine people in any unpredictable circumstances switch to "autopilot" and follow the beaten path, not including emotions.
To determine your own temperament, you need to evaluate the prevailing typical characteristics in your character and correlate them with your behavior. This will reveal the secret of your own temperament.
