Testicular abscess.
Testicular abscess is a complication of orchitis, the result of hypothermia, reduced immunity, infection of a wound resulting from an injury, when the inflammatory process becomes purulent.
A testicular abscess develops in the testicular tissue and is limited by a capsule that holds the purulent masses in a confined space. With an abscess of the testicle, the tissues melt, when the inflamed focus is felt, tissue softening is observed, fluctuation appears (a feeling of mobility, fluctuations in the liquid contents of the capsule).
Signs of a testicular abscess:
- Redness of the scrotum,
- Swelling and enlargement of the affected testicle,
- Pain in the scrotum at rest and on movement,
- A significant increase in temperature,
- General malaise, weakness,
- Chills, muscle pain.
To diagnose testicular abscess, ultrasound of the scrotum is performed, sometimes a puncture is used to clarify the pyogenic microflora when prescribing antimicrobial therapy. Differential diagnosis of testicular abscess is carried out with a tumor of the epididymis, with epididymitis, testicular infarction.
Treatment of testicular abscess is carried out by opening the capsule, draining, treatment with antiseptics. According to the indications, the abscess is chipped with antibiotics (antibacterial agents of a wide spectrum of action are used). In elderly people, in order to avoid the spread of infection, orchiectomy is performed - the affected testicle is removed. Organ-preserving therapy is carried out for men of childbearing age.
