How to treat human papillomavirus infection?
Human papillomavirus is highly contagious, and the incidence of this disease is gaining momentum every year. Against this background, the development of methods for treating the consequences of human papillomavirus infection is especially acute. Currently, there are several methods for treating human papillomavirus infection:
Destructive methods (deletion):
- Mechanical removal of growths (papillomas, warts, genital warts, malignant neoplasms),
- Chemical removal of growths (papillomas, warts, genital warts, malignant neoplasms).
- Antiviral therapy (cytotoxic methods);
- Immunostimulating therapy.
Mechanical removal of areas of human papillomavirus infection is carried out in several ways:
- With the help of surgical excision of tissue in the case of malignant neoplasms. This method requires the patient to be in the hospital.
- By electrocoagulation, plasma coagulation, excision with an electrosurgical unit. The advantage of these methods is to reduce bleeding at the time of surgery and during the healing period. It is possible to carry out on an outpatient basis.
- Laser excision - allows the procedure to be performed on an outpatient basis, but is not always effective in cases where the virus is introduced into the genome. The advantages of the method are the minimal damage to the surrounding tissues.
- Cryotherapy - allows you to freeze affected tissues, is bloodless and can be combined with plasma coagulation.
Chemical removal of areas of human papillomavirus infection is based on the use of various preparations based on solutions of acids, alkalis, and salts. The drugs have a cauterizing effect. The results of use are not effective in all cases. The means of such action include preparations based on hydrogen peroxide, acriquine, hingamine, salicylic, acetic, nitric and lactic acids (in solutions), celandine juice, milkweed juice, thuja juice. The drug Solkoderm has a tissue mummifying effect, suitable for many growths with human papillomavirus infection.
Chemical removal of papillomas, warts, genital warts, which are in accessible places, is carried out independently at home, but under certain circumstances, folk remedies for removing papillomas, warts, genital warts have temporary effectiveness, or do not bring results at all. The effect of the use of the aforementioned chemicals directly depends on the characteristics of the papillomavirus strain, which causes the proliferation of epithelial tissues.
Antiviral therapy for human papillomavirus infection is poorly developed. There are a number of cytotoxic drugs that have a positive effect (Podophyllotoxin, Podophyllin, 5-Fluorouracil). These drugs have special indications for use and a number of contraindications.
Immunostimulating therapy for human papillomavirus infection is carried out in combination with the above methods. Immunostimulating therapy works on the natural factors of the immune system. There are positive results from the use of imiquimod (a cytokine inducer), but there are up to 50% of successful cases and many side effects. Isoprinosine, Leukocyte Interferon is also used.
All methods of treating human papillomavirus infection are used in combinations that are selected individually in each individual case of manifestation of the disease.
