Is the bath useful?
For many people, a bath is a pleasure, some see it as a procedure for treating many diseases, but what is a bath for our body really? Is the bath good for your health?
To understand how the body reacts to the steam room, it is necessary to remember that the steam room for the body is overheating, which means that the thermoregulation mechanisms will turn on, which will begin to lower the body temperature by the outflow of blood from the internal organs and sweating. But the whole trouble is that the body needs sweat in order to evaporate from the surface of the skin and thereby cool the surface of the body, but in a steam room, where the temperature can reach 100 degrees, and the humidity is maintained at 15 - 100%, it evaporates there is nowhere and there is no cooling - the body experiences stress from overheating and is actually fighting for survival while the person is enjoying the bath procedures.
In addition to increased sweating, all internal organs begin to work in an emergency mode: the heart begins to beat 2 times more often, the blood drains from the brain and internal organs (liver, spleen, etc.) and rushes to the peripheral vessels, the adrenal glands release adrenaline into the blood. That is why a person feels relaxation in the body, a slight euphoria. The body in the steam room loses a lot of fluid, and with it sodium, potassium, magnesium, which are needed for the cardiovascular system to work, go away.
The body gets another stress when a person, after a steam room, plunges into an ice hole or a pool of cold water. Having not recovered from overheating, the body finds itself in a state of hypothermia and throws all its strength into heating!
What is the use of a bath, if the body is in an extremely stressful state all the time? The answer to this question can be given by a doctor who conducts an examination and in each specific case considers the bath either as a threat to human health, or as a factor in health improvement.
There are a number of contraindications for bathing procedures:
- Disorders of the heart muscle (arrhythmias, bradycardia, tachycardia),
- Heart defects,
- A tendency to increase or decrease in pressure (low pressure is especially dangerous, since the outflow of blood to the peripheral vessels will lower it even more, which can be fatal),
- Painful conditions in the acute phase,
- Chronic diseases during an exacerbation,
- Kidney dysfunctions and more.
In fact, only a healthy person with excellent work of the cardiovascular system, urinary system, endocrine system, immune system and thermoregulatory system can afford a bath as entertainment.
