Rest turned into disease >>>> How not to get sick in a draft
How not to get sick in a draft.
Rest is a time of entertainment. How pleasant it is to sit by the open window, looking at the surrounding landscapes; take a ride with the breeze in a car or boat; put your face in a pleasant cool breeze, lie under a fan ... and the next day wake up with a face twisted from terrible pain, or crumpled up from pain in the lower back, or the inability to turn your head towards your interlocutor, or for no reason at all start sneezing, coughing and looking remedies for a headache that has come from nowhere, or ... There may be enough such “ors” to poison such a long-awaited vacation. And to prevent these troubles from happening, you need to deal with the cause and prevent the occurrence of the conditions listed above.
The draft is to blame for everything , this is an insidious phenomenon, so beloved by many during the heat or stuffiness. The very name "draft" very accurately characterizes the essence of what it is. This is just a stream of air that enters a closed space through cracks, open windows, doors (in general, openings) and passes through the room into an opposite opening (open window, window, door, slot, etc.).
Our body, and in particular the skin receptors, perceive any movement of air masses, in contact with them, as an opportunity for cooling . And it doesn't matter what the temperature of the air stream moving past us will be - cold or warm. The wind, even warm, is always pleasant, as it makes the body feel cool. The work of a fan or fan is based on this effect, which drives the same warm air that seems cool to us. Why? Because the movement of air masses increases evaporation from the surface of the skin, cooling it at the same time, and skin receptors send a signal to the body that the temperature regime of the environment has changed.
And if a sufficiently strong sensation of cold arises , then the receptors signal that it is necessary to warm up, which means that a reaction is needed from the subcutaneous layer of muscles, which, by contracting, cause a small shiver - this is how the body generates heat. When a person is in an open space and the wind blows him from all sides, then the muscles contract evenly over the entire surface of the body. But the draft acts locally, on a certain part of the body, and there is a bias in the work of protective mechanisms against hypothermia. Nerve endings transmit an impulse to the muscles, and they, in turn, begin to contract. Uneven cooling can cause a sharp contraction of any one muscle (or muscle group) and / or inflammation, which in turn can affect nerve fibers (squeeze them). As a result, neuralgia develops in any part of the nerve bundle.
Very often, a draft causes headaches. As a result of hypothermia of the scalp, face, neck, blood vessels react to a lower temperature and narrow, inhibiting blood flow to the brain. Such headaches can be migraine-like in nature and are difficult to stop.
Draft in itself is not a source of pathogenic microbes, but it creates the prerequisites for the occurrence of viral and bacterial infections, weakening the protective functions. Our body is able to adapt to different temperature conditions, but it does it gradually. Sudden changes in temperature, even in a small area of the body, are a kind of stress for the body, for which it is not ready. While all systems are adapting to the new temperature regime, pathogens, seizing the moment, begin to colonize the body.
What diseases can be provoked while within the range of a draft:
- Myositis of the neck, back, lumbar spine
- Neuralgia of the facial nerve, intercostal neuralgia
- Otitis
- Inflammation of the meninges
- Toothache
- Barley
- All types of colds of viral or bacterial etiology
- Shingles
- Herpes simplex
- Pyelonephritis
- Cystitis
- and many other diseases.
Usually drafts are created artificially in order to ventilate the room, but in such cases it is not worthwhile to be inside it during ventilation, or it is necessary to open doors, windows, vents on only one side so that fresh air fills the room, but does not fly through it. Fans of travel in transport with a breeze should open the windows only on one side. Remember that a pleasant but annoying breeze can give you the most unpleasant painful sensations.
