Teeth trainers - what are they for?
Technological innovations are constantly improving our vocabulary. But when you mention a new term in a conversation, you cannot always count on the interlocutor to understand what is being discussed. This is especially true of conversations between a doctor and a patient, when, with a limited time of admission, the patient needs to find out and inform the doctor about various technological innovations. We will deal with the modern method of bite correction - using a dental trainer.
A dental trainer is essentially an orthodontic aligner designed to passively and gradually change the ratio of the dentition, correcting abnormal bites (often very traumatic) to the bite habitual for human physiology.
The material for the manufacture of the trainer was hypoallergenic plastics of varying degrees of rigidity. Soft mouthguard - trainer (blue) is put on the dentition at the first stage of orthodontic treatment and allows you to get used to the device painlessly. The first stage of treatment takes from six months to eight months. Next, a harder kappa trainer (pink) is put on, which is designed to fix the jaw in a clearer position. The duration of the second stage of treatment is similar to the first.
The mouthguard is put on the dentition (upper and lower jaw) and simultaneously fixes the upper and lower jaw in the desired relationship.
The principle of the trainer.
The trainer bilaterally fixes both jaws in the desired position and forcibly forces the chewing muscles and the temporomandibular joint to get used to the new position. In order not to cause much trouble and not to distract the patient's attention from daily activities, the trainer is worn at night and for several hours during the day.
The earlier the treatment with trainers is started , the more effective it is. Trainers are cheaper than braces and do not create aesthetic discomfort.
There are a number of abnormal bites with rotated teeth that cannot be corrected with a trainer, therefore, the advisability of using a trainer is always recommended by an orthodontist.
In addition to the bite, trainers will help get rid of bad habits (thumb sucking), mouth breathing, and improper placement of the tongue (on the teeth, between the dentition).
