Parasitic diseases >>>> Opisthorchiasis is a worm in the body
Opisthorchiasis is a worm in the body.
To get a parasite in your body, you do not have to eat poorly washed food, put food in your mouth with dirty hands, swim in polluted water bodies, walk barefoot in places unsuitable for such walks, or travel to exotic countries. It is enough to eat half-baked freshwater fish, and you will become the rightful owner of a worm named Opisthorchis felineus. The common name of the worm Opisthorchis felineus is hepatic fluke, which is due to its primary place of distribution in the human or animal body.
Opisthorchia worms are of a decent size: in length - from 7 to 18 mm, in thickness from 1 to 2 mm, the body of opisthorchia is equipped with suction cups, which allow not only to be held on the walls of organs, but also to move, capturing the mucous layer. Of course, worms will enter the human body in a microscopic state, and not as adults. Through the digestive tract, the larvae enter various vital organs, but in particular the liver and pancreas (bile ducts and pancreatic ducts).
Opisthorchias are dangerous because, by seeding the hepatic and pancreatic ducts, they injure them, disrupting the integrity of the walls of the ducts. They prevent the outflow of bile and pancreatic secretions, create prerequisites for the accumulation of secretions in the ducts and thereby expand their section. Opisthorchias disrupt the functioning of the liver and pancreas, cause congestion in these organs, and, as recently noted by researchers, can provoke the development of cancer in these organs.
In addition to mechanical trauma, opisthorchia emit in the process of life toxic substances that can cause poisoning (general intoxication) of the human or animal body.
It is intoxication (signs of poisoning) that makes it possible to pay attention to the presence of the disease "opisthorchiasis" in a person (or animal), since the disease can be asymptomatic for a long time. To detect the presence of an opisthorchia parasite in the body, feces are analyzed for the presence of Opisthorchis felineus eggs.
Signs of opisthorchiasis:
- Allergic manifestations - skin rashes,
- Swollen lymph nodes,
- Headaches,
- Bitterness in the mouth,
- Nausea,
- Pain symptom in the right hypochondrium,
- Possible joint or muscle pain,
- Temperature rise is possible.
Treatment of opistochiasis is associated with a number of difficulties, since the hepatic fluke is resistant to conventional anthelmintic drugs, and requires complex procedures, when using choleretic agents and potent antiparasitic drugs, they are trying to remove it from the body. Such therapeutic measures in themselves are destructive to human (animal) health and are not always effective, which leads to the development of chronic opisthorchiasis.
Recommendations for the prevention of opisthorchiasis:
- Before eating, freshwater fish should be fully heat treated;
- Do not eat half-baked freshwater molluscs (they are also carriers of opisthorchia eggs);
- Do not eat salted, dried, dried, smoked freshwater fish;
- Thoroughly wash cutting boards, knives and utensils after cooking freshwater fish.
