Pregnancy toxicosis - causes and help.
So awaited with trembling in the soul, pregnancy for a woman can turn into an extremely painful condition called "pregnancy toxicosis".
All women go through the period of toxicosis during pregnancy in a certain period of time, but not everyone goes through it equally easily. For many, due to toxicosis, pregnancy means a terrible period in life that must be experienced in order to bear and give birth to a child.
Pregnancy toxicosis develops most often in the first three months after conception (but it also happens at later stages of pregnancy), in many women it is relatively easy (not counting the frequent urge to vomit, profuse salivation, general malaise, nervousness), but some expectant mothers are very suffer during these several months, unable to cope with the developed pathology, since pregnancy toxicosis, proceeding in a severe form, is considered a pathology for which there are no medicines.
A woman goes through a period of pregnancy toxicosis, relying on the endurance of her own body and reserves that the body itself can include during the period of struggle for the survival of her own and the future baby.
The reasons for the development of pregnancy toxicosis, as a pathological condition, do not have sufficiently clear definitions today. But the most acceptable and scientifically grounded theory is considered that describes the development of pregnancy toxicosis against the background of restructuring of the nervous system, which in women is more adapted to survive in an aggressive environment, especially during the period of wearing a developing fetus in the body.
That is, during pregnancy, at its initial stages, the work of the subcortical layer of the woman's brain includes additional reserves of the nervous system for exacerbating the work of the sense organs (smell, touch, taste). This heightened sensitivity at the level of survival in the animal world for females helped to protect themselves and future offspring in an aggressive environment, but remaining as an atavism, it did not stop functioning in human females, despite the absence of the need for primitive protection of life.
What happens to a woman during the development of pregnancy toxicosis? The heightened sensitivity of taste and olfactory receptors provokes a stronger perception of smells and taste sensations, which were still present in the atmosphere surrounding the woman, but were muffled. Literally, a woman begins to feel unbearably strong smells of food, printing ink, chemicals, perfume, aromatic fragrances of household chemicals and cosmetics, the smell of deodorants, sweat and other physiological odors intensified to intolerance. With exacerbated taste reactions, a woman can be brought to a nauseous state by any taste sensations that are still habitual, even previously pleasant ones. This fact becomes a problem when eating, accompanied by vomiting every time. Actually suffering from a severe form of toxicosis a pregnant woman is not able to eat and inhale smell food,
The most dangerous thing during the development of pregnancy toxicosis for a woman and her developing fetus is an insufficient intake of useful and nutrients, since due to toxicosis, a woman begins to lead a hungry lifestyle, refusing to eat due to indomitable vomiting that accompanies every meal. In addition to the fact that the mother and her unborn child are starving, various endocrine disorders can develop in the body of a woman and a fetus, metabolic reactions go with an insufficient amount of necessary chemical components. This is reflected in general weakness, critical weight loss, dehydration, low blood pressure, skin rashes, impaired vascular and muscle reflexes, and many more unpredictable painful conditions caused by basic malnutrition.
What help can be provided for pregnancy toxicosis? Medicines are prohibited because they can cause genetic mutations in the development of the fetus. The main task in case of pregnancy toxicosis is to restore adequate nutrition, which guarantees the continuation of the life of the mother and fetus. If it is impossible to observe a vital diet with replenishment of useful substances of the body, the woman is transferred to a hospital and "fed" with droppers with saline solutions and a useful set of vital substances (salts and glucose, vitamins and trace elements), which are lost during starvation and vomiting.
Since, in addition to aversion to food intake, in a pregnant woman suffering from severe toxicosis, increased salivation can also cause a gag reflex (when swallowing saliva), antiemetic drugs and drugs that reduce saliva production are prescribed intravenously or intramuscularly, but only with the recommendation of a doctor and only in difficult cases when vomiting cannot be stopped by other means. In especially difficult situations with the inability to restore the water-electrolyte balance, daily portions of urine (which is also observed with a general picture of dehydration) and stop vomiting, pregnancy is recommended to be terminated so as not to lose the mother's life.
At home, important points of survival during pregnancy toxicosis for a woman are:
- Overpowering the gag reflex at the time of taking liquid at least in small portions, but often;
- Psychological comfort, absence of unbearable physical and intellectual stress and protection from various irritating factors: smells, sounds, and similar effects;
- Compliance (through willpower) of the minimum possible diet for pregnancy toxicosis.
For a woman the period of pregnancy toxicosis is a time of difficult endurance tests, the presence of willpower, self-control and rationality. A pregnant woman needs to remember that with proper selective nutrition and a vital fluid intake regime, you can get out of starvation and ensure a healthy future for yourself and your developing child.
