What to eat with pregnancy toxicosis - diet.
The most difficult time for carrying a child for many women is the time of the development of pregnancy toxicosis. And the main problem of toxicosis is good nutrition, which, as a rule, is very difficult to implement. Almost all food products become unpleasant in smell and taste. And the overwhelming majority of women during the period of severe toxicosis of pregnancy begin to deny themselves good food that cannot be assimilated - everything causes the gag reflex.
Nevertheless, restoring the nutritional process is one of two important things that a woman needs during pregnancy to build the health of her unborn child. What if the body resists nutrition?
A diet for toxicosis of pregnancy involves food products that can be consumed during a period of severe vomiting, and which must meet several characteristics:
- products should be easily digestible, that is, the digestion time must be reduced to a minimum, so that the food as soon as possible passes the way from the stomach to the intestine, from where it does not go back, which means that it cannot evacuate during vomiting;
- products should not have a pungent odor and pronounced taste, so as not to cause nausea and the urge to vomit;
- the products must be divided into many small portions and the entire period of food intake must be stretched for the whole day, deviating from the usual diet - portions can be equal to one tablespoon (cottage cheese, porridge, puree soup), one piece of fruit or vegetable, one crouton for one to two hours.
What to eat with pregnancy toxicosis?
Easy-to-digest foods are boiled vegetables, fresh fruits without skin, liquid cereals, vegetable soups (no broth), dairy products without flavored additives, eggs, dried bread (biscuits, crackers).
Meat, mushrooms and legumes are digested for a long time, can cause fermentation, complicate digestion, and for this reason, rarely any of the women suffering from toxicosis manage to eat them without consequences - vomiting.
Fried eggs are heavy, but boiled or steamed (no butter) omelets are lightweight. An omelet can be made with milk or kefir, and only protein can be eaten from a boiled egg to protect yourself from a specific smell.
Potatoes digest well when cooked, but not fried or chips. To maintain the body, a spoonful of mashed potatoes or a slice of boiled potatoes without other additives (sauces, seasonings, gravy, and similar gustatory entertainment) is quite suitable.
From dairy products, the best results are shown by cottage cheese without adding flavoring agents, milk and feta cheese. Salty and sour food causes a gag reflex to a lesser extent than sweet food, which will make it possible to delay vomiting until the end of the digestion process in the stomach. But if there is no way to eat a salted dish, it is better to eat it bland. In addition, salt will become a factor in the retention of water in the body, which is necessary to prevent the process of dehydration. But you should not get carried away with salty food either - this can complicate the work of the kidneys, which carry a double load during pregnancy.
A tablespoon of porridge plus a few sips of liquid per hour is already a victory over a rebellious body. If you cannot eat any of the products, then it is better to stop on crackers made from salted bread and mineral water (no gas !!!). This will help the body to hold out during the forced hunger strike.
The drinking regimen is very important during the period of pregnancy toxicosis, since fluid is excreted from the body with each vomiting. In addition to mineralized water, homemade lemonade without sugar is suitable for drinking (squeeze the juice of one lemon into 1 liter of water in a decanter or a bottle of water) or berry juice (but not cranberry juice, since cranberry is a strong diuretic, and the woman's task is to keep water in the body, and not remove from it). Cranberry juice is good only during the period of edema, when the kidneys themselves cease to cope with the excretion of fluid.
All that is required of a pregnant woman during a period of toxicosis is, keeping herself from vomiting, to eat small portions of food to maintain the physiological capabilities of the body.
