How to overcome alcohol tolerance?
The last years of the development of the science of biochemistry have significantly expanded human knowledge about genetic abnormalities that program many diseases. And such a property of the body as tolerance to alcohol, science has not bypassed in its research. Tolerance to alcohol, or the body's addiction to alcohol, is today considered a genetic abnormality that is passed down from generation to generation.
As shown by the results of multiple experiments conducted in the search for solutions to cure alcohol dependence, two enzymes that break down alcohols in stages (alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase) affect the ability of the human body to get used to or not to get used to alcohol consumption.
Alcohol dehydrogenase breaks down the drunk drink with the participation of ethyl alcohol to the substance "acetaldehyde", which is so toxic that, being in the body for some time, it causes poisoning and all the accompanying symptoms (dehydration, nausea and vomiting, increased heart rate, dizziness, headache, weakness, weakness, drowsiness, temporary memory loss). Further, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase enters the fight with the alcohol that has entered the body, which ends oxidative reactions and converts acetaldehyde into non-hazardous substances.
There is a category of people in whom genetically the phase of the decomposition of alcohol to acetaldehyde occurs very quickly, and the phase of further decomposition of acetaldehyde to non-hazardous substances lags behind with a large gap from the previous one, which entails persistent extremely poor health and, as a result, reluctance to consume alcohol. In everyday life, there is a name for such a reaction to alcohol - alcohol allergy.
“Lucky people” with this reaction of the organism to alcohols pass this property genetically by inheritance. This is where generations of non-drinking people came from. Alcohol may be present in the life of such people, but in small doses, and the custom of adopting family values (traditions) does not provide an opportunity for preconditions for drunkenness. Such genetic characteristics are often anchored at the ethnic and religious level.
But in addition to a genetic predisposition to a certain form of the course of chemical oxidative reactions, there is also an upbringing and a habit not to abuse alcohol, which translates some people with a genetic tolerance (tendency) to alcoholism into the category of non-drinkers as well.
There is one trick of the body with a genetic aversion to alcohol. And this trick sometimes plays with people genetically incapable of getting used to alcohol, a cruel joke. The state of poisoning (or hangover syndrome) is easily overcome by a new libation of alcohol, which improves health and develops a rule in a person to treat alcohol poisoning with alcohol. Such a chain reaction very quickly teaches the body to regular alcoholic libations and transforms into a bad habit, and then into an irresistible addiction.
So do not rely on genetics, which can fail. Make a decision about alcohol abstinence consciously. To overcome alcohol tolerance, it is necessary to develop principles that will deter you from social entertainment with alcohol, start a family tradition not to drink on holidays - there are many pleasant drinks suitable for sober entertainment. It is worth thinking about the question: "Isn't it possible to become that genetic basis for the transmission of healthy genes to your descendants".
