What to do with lips?
Lips are that part of the face that is always open and more vulnerable than other parts of the skin and mucous membranes. The lips are open to all seasonal temperature changes and wind, vulnerable to heat and thirst, when the body temperature rises above normal, with a lack of oxygen in the respiratory system. They suffer when using low-quality or inappropriate cosmetics, from unsuccessful peeling of the skin of the face or unsuccessful cosmetic correction of the shape and contours of the lips, from various infectious diseases in the oral cavity, and from many more factors of undesirable effects on the lip area, which you may not even be aware of.
What to do with lips if they begin to deteriorate: peel, crack, crust, hurt, turn pale and cause a lot of trouble to their owner?
Nature took care of the structure of the lips in advance, protecting them with a fairly thin translucent layer of connective tissue that covers the mucous layer. In fact, the composition of the tissue that forms the lips is similar to the composition of the mucous layer lining the oral cavity, hence all the problems of the lips related to the condition of the oral mucosa.
If a bacterial, viral or fungal infection develops in the oral cavity, then the skin of the lips suffers to the same extent as the oral mucosa. For this reason, the primary task of improving the condition of the skin of the lips is the task of diagnosing the condition of the oral mucosa for the presence of various infections. If any infection is diagnosed, then the treatment of poor lip condition will depend on the effectiveness of the treatment of infectious diseases of the oral mucosa.
The tissue of the lips reacts to a general decrease in the body's immunity, as well as to the phenomena of dysbiosis in the oral cavity. Often lip diseases that look innocent (in the form of peeling and cracking) are the result of an imbalance in the microflora in the oral cavity or a general violation of the immune status, which lead to uncontrolled reproduction of bacteria and fungi living in the human body as conditionally pathogenic microorganisms . Solving the problem of impaired immunity also solves the problem of poor lip condition.
Avitaminosis or hypovitaminosis is another reason why the state of lip tissues deteriorates very much. Lack of B vitamins, vitamin A , or vitamin E very revealing effect on the condition of the lips, causing their peeling, cracking and inflammation. It is useless to waste time and money on various fortified creams, lipsticks and glosses if the problem of vitamin deficiency is common to the whole organism. This means that it is necessary to solve the problem of cracking and peeling of the lips as a special case of the general problem of a lack of vitamins in the body. To do this, take a course of vitamins that contribute to the restoration (regeneration) of the skin and mucous membranes (vitamins A and E), as well as vitamins that affect metabolic intracellular processes and are responsible for the proper formation of skin cells and mucous membranes (group B vitamins).
When is it necessary to use topical remedies to improve the condition of the lips? Creams, gels, lipsticks and glosses with healing or protective properties are justified in the case of chronic mechanical, chemical or thermal injuries of the lip mucosa. Such injuries can be obtained by burning the tissues of the lips, obtained by carelessly taking hot drinks, highly concentrated alcoholic beverages, or due to sunburn at the time of tanning the face, with regular chapping or slight frostbite of the lips.
Since the lips are closely connected with the skin of the face, diseases of the skin, including the skin of the face, can partially or completely capture the tissues of the lips. In such cases, it is reasonable to use lip therapeutics that are approved for use in areas of delicate skin and mucous membranes. These products include ointments, creams and gels with vitamins A and E, applications on the lips with oils of Sea Buckthorn , St. John's wort, Calendula and Olive oil.
Allergic reactions of the body to various antigens (food, household chemicals, cosmetics, drugs, pollen, animal hair and fluff and other potential allergens) often affect the condition of the lip mucosa, causing redness, itching, swelling, peeling. Treatment and prevention of allergic reactions that develop in the body, has a beneficial effect on the condition of the tissues of the lips.
A common phenomenon, fading of the lips is observed in several cases:
- when the body ages, and this naturally changes the quality of the skin and mucous membranes,
- when lips are regularly covered with protective creams and lipsticks, shielding from natural ultraviolet radiation,
- when the blood circulation of the tissues of the face, including the lips, is disturbed, which often accompanies oxygen starvation of the tissues due to a violation of the functions of the respiratory system to enrich the blood with oxygen (this is the most dangerous condition in which you need to see a doctor).
What you need to do for lips so that they are healthy and glamor:
- lips love fortified food,
- lips love massage and light and non-traumatic biting (to improve blood circulation),
- lips love facial exercises (stretch lips, pull out lips, purse one's lips),
- lips love greasy masks and protective equipment from wind, sun and heat,
- lips love natural moisturizing (licking, water compresses, baths),
- lips love allergy-free cosmetics and non-traumatic care (without mechanical peeling or chemical cleaning).
Lip care is part of the general health care program and requires special attention to the details of maintaining the health of the skin and mucous membranes.
