Immunology and Allergology >>>> Yellow fever vaccination
Yellow fever vaccination.
Yellow fever vaccination is required to enter the African continent and Latin America. This is a mandatory preventive procedure, without which a visa will not be issued and will not be allowed even in the case of an ordinary transit flight through countries endemic to this disease.
The yellow fever vaccine is effective for 30 to 35 years. Vaccination is carried out ten days before moving to endemic regions. This ten-day period is necessary for the development of immunity to the yellow fever virus (80-95%). Thirty days after the vaccine was administered, immunity to the yellow fever virus is 99%.
After the vaccination, an international certificate of its presence in a person is issued, which is presented upon entry to countries endemic to yellow fever.
Contraindications for vaccination:
- for children aged 6-9 months,
- for pregnant women (exception is an epidemic outbreak),
- with a severe course of allergy to egg white,
- severe immunodeficiency states.
Vaccination against yellow fever is carried out in medical institutions that have an official authorization to issue the corresponding vaccination certificate.
