Biphoton teeth whitening - what is it?
Like any branch of medicine, innovations in modern dentistry have not been spared. This is especially true for methods of putting in order the teeth, aesthetic improvement of their appearance.
Teeth whitening, which is a painful topic for a large number of the population, has now taken on a new form: biphoton bleaching - discoloration of the enamel surface using chromophores (photosensitive molecules) that accelerate the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide molecules. This is a light-activated technology that accelerates the whitening process and is gentle on the tooth enamel.
In the price lists, the biphoton whitening procedure is called "Klox". The technological process takes place in several stages:
- A retractor is inserted into the oral cavity (to keep the mouth open),
- The mucous membrane near the teeth is treated with a liquid rubber dam (for isolation from saliva),
- Prepare a lightening composition (gel) after determining the required tooth color,
- The gel is applied to the teeth in a thin layer and illuminated with a lamp for 10 seconds until the gel discolors (the gel initially has a brick color), which indicates the activation of the process,
- The gel is applied up to seven times in one session, depending on what color you want to achieve,The spent gel and its residues are washed off with water.
There are contraindications for biphoton teeth whitening:
- increased sensitivity of the teeth,
- violations of the integrity of the enamel ( pathological abrasion, cracks, chips),
- demineralization of teeth.
