Densitometry - prevention of osteoporosis.
If you think that bone loss begins in old age, then this opinion is wrong. An improperly selected diet (diet) with a lack of calcium-rich foods; sitting at a computer in a shaded room on summer days, when vitamin D is naturally synthesized in the sun, an assistant in the absorption of calcium by the body; lack of physical activity on muscle tissue as a result of a "sedentary" lifestyle, which leads to atrophic changes in bone structures - these are the provocateurs of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease that is not noticeable in the early stages of its development, but it is at these stages that it is curable. This means that prevention is needed that would detect bone disease in the early stages, so that its progression can be prevented.
Densitometry is a procedure to help identify early signs of osteoporosis. Densitometry is a type of X-ray examination of bone structures in several projections at the same time. Skeleton scanning takes place in a horizontal state of the body. The intensity of radiation in densitometry is 400 times less intense than in conventional X-rays. Densitometry measures bone density.
Densitometry is performed no more than once every two years and is indicated for people (especially women) after forty years, but if relatives have osteoporosis, it is indicated after 30 years. Those who take glucocorticosteroids have a reason to undergo densitometry at any age.
