Prevention of dental caries.
A disease such as dental caries can begin imperceptibly even for a person who is accustomed to carefully looking after their teeth. It's all about the reasons that initiate the destruction of the coronal part of the tooth, and these reasons are not always external.
One of the most common causes, of course, is bacteria that multiply in places that are hard to brush with a toothbrush (for example, when teeth are crowded). Another reason may be the aggressive environment of the oral cavity (increased acidity of saliva, acid emissions during reflux).
But often the cause of the destruction of tooth enamel and dentin are internal problems of the body - metabolic disorders, when the assimilation of minerals that form the tooth tissues is difficult (lack of fluoride, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium). Metabolic disorders can be congenital or acquired. Rigid diets, supposedly designed to improve the health of the body, can cause irreparable harm to dental health. Caries will begin to develop from the inside of the tooth. And a person (or a dentist) will see a chalky spot on a tooth, giving caries an initial degree of development, while in fact, a tooth, which looks almost healthy, is already destroyed from the inside.
How to prevent dental caries?
Undoubtedly, external dental care plays an important role in the prevention of dental caries, but a huge role in the preservation of the tooth, nevertheless, is played by a balanced diet, due to which the body can replenish its reserves of minerals.
It is worth paying more attention not to sweet dishes, but to dairy products (milk, kefir, sour cream, cream, cottage cheese, cheeses). Such products should contain as little artificial additives and dyes as possible.
Carbonated drinks, energy drinks, beer have no effect on improving the quality of teeth, but mineral waters rich in fluoride, magnesium and calcium salts will replenish the reserves of the necessary mineral components for building hard tooth tissues.
Phosphorus-rich fish and seafood are great additions to your diet for maintaining dental health.
Preventive dental procedures can slow down the development of caries, if suddenly microcracks appear on the enamel (the result of temperature changes (for example, ice cream after hot coffee) or the result of mechanical injury) In this case, sealants will come to the rescue - special pastes that fill (superficially) cracks in the tooth enamels.
Prevention of dental caries should be carried out in all directions, from proper nutrition, dental care and ending with preventive regular dental examinations.
