Are red moles dangerous?
A red mole - an angioma - is an enlargement of a capillary or lymphatic vessel in the thickness of the skin. Depending on how close the overgrown vessel comes to the surface, the color and appearance of the red mole depends. The colors of a mole vary from pink to bluish-lilac, depending on the vessel involved in the proliferation: capillaries give a pink or pale red tint, bright red and burgundy moles appear as a result of proliferation of arterial vessels, lilac or bluish - as a result of the proliferation of venous vessels.
Red moles range in size from small dots to the size of a palm (birthmark).
At their core, angiomas are benign tumors, but those red moles that began to itch, get wet, sharply increase in size, and become convex from flat should be alerted.
The reasons for the appearance of red moles are not fully understood, but patterns can be traced that are associated with the appearance of red moles:
- bright skin,
- changes in hormonal levels,
- problems with the digestive tract,
- traumatic factors such as sunburn,
- heredity,
- problems of the vascular system.
Contact a dermatologist or oncologist with a red mole in cases of its modification within a short period of time.
In a normal state, red moles do not cause trouble and do not pose a danger, but nevertheless require careful treatment; cover from direct sunlight and protect from injury, do not comb, do not smear with various creams or medicinal ointments.
