Skin diseases in cats and dogs.
Skin diseases in a pet are not uncommon, even in the case when the animal lives without leaving the dwelling. The cause of skin manifestations in cats and dogs can be allergic, infectious diseases, as well as diseases of the endocrine system (metabolic disorders). Due to the coat, the owners of animals cannot always notice the signs of skin disease in cats and dogs in time, and, as a rule, they sound the alarm already at the height of the disease, and not its onset. The development of a skin disease in cats and dogs can manifest itself in inappropriate behavior of the pet, so the main task of the pet owner is to show attention to his animal.
The most common symptoms of a skin disease in an animal are:
- the animal itches all the time, it can whine at the same time,
- wool falls out,
- when viewed on the skin there may be redness, swelling, abrasion (scratching), on the skin there may be rashes (rash, blisters, crusts, sores, erosion, weeping places).
What skin diseases in cats and dogs are most common: demodicosis, atopic dermatitis, allergies, lichen.
Not knowing about the causes of the skin disease, it is better to protect the animal from communicating with other pets, so that infection does not occur if the skin manifestations are the result of infection.
Allergic manifestations on the skin can be the result of both food allergies and the presence of parasites in the pet's body, the toxins of which cause allergies and dermatitis.
An allergy that occurs on the skin of an animal can also be associated with hygiene products, the components of which cause skin irritation and itching.
It is not recommended to treat skin diseases in cats and dogs on your own, as time can be wasted and the disease will go into a chronic stage or it can give complications to other organs and organ systems. If you notice signs of an unknown skin disease in your pet, be careful not to touch the animal without medical gloves, as many skin diseases in cats and dogs can be transmitted to humans by contact. Quarantine the animal until diagnosis is made.
