Pet care >>>> The pet is pregnant
The pet is pregnant.
If your pet is a female, then the hour is not far off when she will bear offspring. And you need to prepare yourself morally and financially for this period.
Often the pregnancy of a pet comes as a surprise to the owners if they uncontrollably release the pet for outdoor walks. But the programmed pregnancy of a pet may not be recognized in time, and this may affect the complexity of the course of childbirth. It is quite difficult to notice the signs of pregnancy in an animal in advance, but it is possible if you are careful. The first thing that catches the eye of a pet owner is his excessive appetite - pregnant cats, dogs, mice and other representatives of domestic fauna begin to eat for four.
A pregnant animal becomes slow, plays poorly, tries to lie down or sleep more. Especially pregnant pets like to lie down on warm radiators, stoves, near fireplaces and in other heated places of the living quarters. An animal in a state of expectation of offspring is always looking for where to arrange a "nest". So, if you notice that your female pet is actively prowling around the house in search of a dark, closed, warm, secluded place, examine it for signs of pregnancy. As a rule, these are swollen nipples and excess weight gain.
Do not forget that the pregnancy of a living creature is an altered hormonal exchange, and a female pet can become a nervous, obstinate, uncontrollable creature. You should not impose the rules of behavior on the animal during this period of its life, because pregnancy is not an easy state of health.
A pregnant animal can become sloppy in relation to toilet rules, natural needs to be done anywhere, and not where it is accustomed. A pregnant female may vomit after eating. So you have to be patient and take care of your dear pet twice as carefully as usual.
You cannot overfeed a pregnant animal, otherwise the fetus (or all 2-15 future cubs) will gain weight, which does not allow them to give birth naturally. And you will have to use the services of a veterinarian for a caesarean section, otherwise you are destined for the death of the animal during childbirth.
A pregnant animal requires high-quality and varied food so that future cubs are born full and strong. But it is not recommended to add vitamins during the feeding period of the pet, since vitamin therapy activates the appetite, which is inappropriate during pregnancy.
Pet pregnancy is not a long period - from several weeks to 2.5 months, depending on the type of pet and breed. But during this time, the owner will have to think about the location of the future offspring and its mother. It should be a calm, deserted place (fenced corner, spacious house or box) - it can be equipped in a separate room, in a closet, under a table or in a secluded corner near furniture, the main thing is away from prying eyes. If there are several different types of animals or different breeds of pets in the house, you will definitely have to allocate a closed room in order to protect the female and the offspring from other pets (they can not only harm the cubs, but kill them accidentally or deliberately).
Pregnancy of a pet can proceed in different ways, but in any case, the owner of the animal should be very careful with his pet during this period, not to drop or push accidentally. And with the slightest change in health (anxiety, bleeding, indomitable vomiting, or other symptoms atypical for a healthy pet), seek help or advice from a veterinarian, because, like a person, a living creature can have complications during pregnancy.
