Pepper tincture recipe.
To make pepper tincture at home, a plant called Capsicum Annuum L. is used (other names are annual pepper, Hot pepper, Red hot pepper, Chili pepper, Cayenne pepper). Ripe fruits of hot peppers contain the alkaloid Capsaicin (in large quantities in the seeds), to which this plant owes its medicinal properties and pungent taste. But the pungency of the fruits of this type of pepper extends not only to the taste buds, it also has a significant irritating effect on all types of mucous membranes and skin.
It is this irritating effect of hot pepper on the receptors of the skin and mucous membranes that is used for medicinal purposes in herbal medicine and naturopathy, as well as an officially recognized medicine for irritating and warming action for external use - pepper compresses, pepper lotions, pepper powder and pepper patches.
The recipe for hot pepper tincture (only for external use due to the high concentration of pepper in the infusion) is easy to prepare, for which you need 1 ounce of red hot pepper powder (ripe fruits of Capsicum Annuum L., dried and ground into powder), 7 ounces of vodka ( or 70% medical alcohol). For reference: one level teaspoon contains 0.35 ounce of dry hot pepper powder.
Hot pepper powder is poured with vodka (medical alcohol in food concentrations) and infused at room temperature in a dark place for two weeks in a hermetically sealed form in a glass container. After the specified time, the tincture is filtered, squeezed out on a fine strainer, poured into a glass, hermetically sealed bottle (glass jar or bottle) and stored at room temperature in an unlit place.
Pepper tincture is used as a rubbing as a warming substance for coughing (the area of application is the chest in the region of the bronchial tree), for neuralgia, myositis, myogelosis, sprains of muscles and ligaments, sciatica, rheumatism of the joints, lumbago, radiculitis, as well as freezing and hypothermia skin as a local (external) warming agent.
In the pharmacy version, you can use the drug Capsitrinum (Capsitrinum), pepper liniment or pepper patch for the same purposes, for which the same substance Capsaicin is used.
You need to know what for applying inside pepper infusions use drinks with a completely different dose of hot pepper powder (on the tip of a knife) or several rings of fresh hot pepper (1-2-3 rings, depending on the habits of bitterness). These drinks include coffee with hot peppers, milk with hot peppers, grape wine with hot peppers, juices with hot peppers, where hot peppers are added either in the form of a micro dose of dry powder, or cut into several pieces, or ground in a mortar (1 -3 pieces of hot pepper grind in a mortar and add to the drink, insist, strain through a strainer and only then drink). The same drinks can be spiced up if the hot pepper pod is slightly cut and kept in the drink beforehand, and removed from the cup before drinking.
All infusions and drinks, in which a little hot pepper is added in the form of a dry powder or a raw substance ground in a mortar, have an irritating effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa and thereby stimulate the production of digestive enzymes (including an additional dose of such enzymes) in case of digestive diseases associated with enzymatic deficiency. But in other cases of gastrointestinal diseases (especially with ulcers, erosions, gastritis, colitis, high acidity, GERD, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation and various diseases associated with inflammatory processes of the mucous membrane in all parts of the digestive tract, starting from the oral cavity, including the esophagus, stomach and intestines, and ending with the rectum), as well as in case of metabolic disorders manifested in the form of skin diseases, pepper tincture is categorically contraindicated for oral administration, and is used exclusively for external use as rubbing, compresses and applications.
But not all cases of diseases are suitable for external use of the recipe for pepper tincture. So for wounds, skin diseases (acute and chronic, including infectious), pepper tincture is not used externally, since it causes significant local inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes, which can aggravate tissues damaged by injury or skin disease.
It is contraindicated and dangerous to use pepper tincture for compresses on the skin of the face, in the eye area, and it is extremely dangerous to get drops of tincture on the mucous membrane of the eyelids and eyeball, which can cause a significant burn of the mucous membrane and lead to loss of vision at best - temporarily, at worst - permanently. For this reason, when preparing pepper tincture, you should not rub your face and eyes with your hands, you should try not to spray hot pepper powder with your breath, the particles of which can easily get into the eyes and respiratory tract.
