Vitamin U - what is it?
In recent years, much attention has begun to be paid to vitamin U. Such a vitamin is not on the list of vitamin supplements, so where to look for it, and what role does vitamin U play in the body?
Vitamin U is actually a vitamin-like substance S-methylmethionine (an active food factor that is converted in the body into L-methionine, an essential amino acid). Initially, in primary studies, vitamin U was found in raw vegetables, animal liver, and fresh milk.
Vitamin U is resistant to acidic environments, but is destroyed when exposed to high temperatures (cooking food at 100 degrees).
Fresh can serve as a source of vitamin U: cabbage, turnips, carrots, parsley (greens), bell peppers, asparagus, raw potatoes, green tea leaves, banana, liver, fresh milk (not boiled), egg yolks. To preserve vitamin U, vegetables are recommended to be consumed not boiled, but fresh or fermented in their own juice.
The pharmaceutical industry has established the production of synthetic vitamin U (methylmethionine sulfonium chloride), which is several orders of magnitude more effective in the healing of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
Medicinal properties of vitamin U:
- Stimulates the healing of the gastrointestinal mucosa;
- Neutralizes the action of histamine in allergic manifestations on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
Vitamin U is an adjunct for the treatment of ulcers and erosions of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
