Rutin is vitamin P.
Not all substances important for life can be produced by the human body itself. Something has to be taken from the environment with food. So the most important substances, flavonoids, a person consumes with sour vegetables, fruits and berries. Why does the body need flavonoids? It has been experimentally proved that flavonoids are able to strengthen the structure of the vascular wall, which provides an invaluable service to the entire cardiovascular system, protecting the vessels from micro ruptures, preventing aneurysm rupture, preventing bleeding.
Flavonoids combine a group of substances with various beneficial properties: they maintain the elasticity and firmness of the vascular wall, have an antioxidant effect, increase the body's resistance, and inhibit the growth of neoplastic cells. Flavonoids have given the name vitamin P. The most commonly used flavonoid is rutoside, which is called rutin in pharmaceuticals.
Rutin is found in large quantities in the stroma of citrus fruits (oranges, tangerines, lemon, grapefruit), red bell peppers, tomatoes, red cabbage, beets, chokeberries, black currants, cherries, grapes, plums, apples, apricots, raspberries , blackberries. Since flavonoids are coloring pigments, they impart yellow, orange and red colors to vegetables, fruits and berries, which makes it possible to navigate in the presence or absence of flavonoids in large quantities in plant fruits.
When using rutin, there is no hypervitaminosis, since its excess does not accumulate, but is excreted from the body. Rutin usually accompanies vitamin C , enhancing its effect and promoting its better absorption. For this reason, the pharmaceutical industry produces these vitamins in a complex - Rutoside.
Vitamin P (rutin) is best taken as an additional remedy during a period of lack of fresh fruits, vegetables and berries in the diet - this is the winter-spring period. Heat treatment destroys rutin.
