Carlson syndrome - what is it?
Carlson syndrome is the appearance in the imagination of a child of an imaginary friend. Sometimes this syndrome develops in adults, if their communication is limited, they are outside the social environment or suffer from loneliness due to their peculiar nature. An unsettled personal life, fear of responsibility for another person, low self-esteem can involve a person in a situation with an imaginary friend.
The developed Carlson syndrome in a child can be the result of:
- the feeling of loneliness that haunts him;
- feelings of uselessness;
- lack of sociability;
- too strict attitude of parents and drill;
- incorrect upbringing process that does not take into account the interests of the child;
- restrictions on the possibilities of his entertainment;
- desire to get away from real troubles in fantasy;
- high level of child custody.
How to help a child get rid of Carlson syndrome?
Until the moment of contacting a specialist - a psychologist, parents can independently help a child to find real friends and get rid of imaginary ones.
This requires:
- communicate with the child more often, talking on topics of interest to him;
- give the child freedom of action and the ability to make independent decisions;
- get a pet and switch the child's attention to a real friend;
- create a social circle for the child, inviting familiar children to birthdays, inviting them to play just as a guest;
- enroll the child in sections and in sports clubs so that he has real acquaintances.
To better understand your child, you need to get information about his imaginary friend, his interests, character, habits, because the characteristics of the personality of an imaginary friend are those traits that your child wanted to possess, but for some reason could not realize them.
