Post-acne treatment.
Acne (acne, rosacea or another type) is an unpleasant thing in itself, but skin defects remaining after a complete cure of acne are even more unpleasant: scars of varying depth, skin porosity, persistent erythema, enlarged pores of the skin, giving the skin a loose appearance.
Post-acne treatment always has an integrated approach and is extended in time, since many procedures are traumatic in nature and take time for tissue healing.
The most gentle procedures for smoothing the skin, narrowing the dilated orifice of the sebaceous glands are the application of natural acids - hydroxyacids (tartaric, glycolic, lactic) and salicylic acid. These methods of exposure are called chemical peels.
Along with chemical peeling, mechanical and laser peels are used, which allow you to abrade superficial scars and re-start the regeneration processes of the skin.
In order to narrow the sebaceous ducts, retinoids are used. These preparations are applied in the form of applications to the defective areas. Treatment can take anywhere from several months to a year.
Persistent erythema is associated with dilated blood vessels close to the skin's surface. To change the skin color from pink to paler tones, vasoconstrictor and vasodilator substances are used. Despite the opposite effect, these substances are designed to regulate the work of the capillaries, which are accustomed to being in an expanded state due to the constant microtrauma of the skin as a result of the removal of acne.
Vascular regulation drugs alternate with each other at intervals of several days. Vasoconstrictor substances (adrenaline, liquid nitrogen, ice) help to narrow pores and microvessels, and thereby reduce blood flow in certain areas with persistent redness. Vasodilator drugs will improve the work of the vascular wall and allow blood to drain from the microvascular network.
As a result of medical procedures, problem areas of the skin become thinner, natural grease decreases, and the skin may become less elastic. This issue is solved by injecting collagen into problem areas.
It is worth knowing that many procedures of chemical, mechanical and laser peeling, as well as cutting scars, are quite painful and are carried out under local anesthesia. Since a new injury is applied to the skin, edema and redness are possible as a result, which will go away in 1-2 weeks, depending on the depth of the intervention in the skin.
There are a number of contraindications to acne treatment:
- the presence of purulent rashes on the skin,
- chronic infections,
- individual intolerance to drugs for chemical peeling,
- lowered immunity, which does not contribute to the rapid healing of tissues,
- diabetes mellitus, which also disrupts the repair processes.
