Dermatology >>>> Pink acne is rosacea
Pink acne is rosacea.
When it comes to acne, this term sometimes means completely different diseases. Acne is commonly referred to as acne that is scattered over the skin of the face or back. But acne strife eels. And single rashes of acne is not a disease yet. But those affected by acne (or, in the eyes of a layman, acne), sufficiently large areas are already a cause for concern. Especially if these rashes are quite persistent. This article will focus on a rather unusual disease - rosacea. Pink acne, or more correctly called rosacea, is considered a disease of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the facial skin. This type of acne often occurs after 30 years. But there are cases of this disease occurring in an earlier period. Most often, women are ill (men - less often, but with complications).
Often, the onset of the disease is not identified with acne, but is accompanied by regular flushing of the face. Many do not notice the onset of the development of this disease, since the scattering of rosacea at the initial stage takes up small spaces, acne is scattered and does not cause much trouble for a person, but as the disease progresses, the rashes take up an ever larger area, pile on top of each other and change their appearance facial skin is quite significant. The skin has an inflamed appearance (red or pink), which is provided by small erythema, and due to piled acne, it becomes bumpy. The hallmark of rosacea there is a characteristic location of rashes with rather clear boundaries of the area, the central part of the face is affected (the cheeks are little affected): the forehead, nose, nasolabial region, chin. In advanced cases, the skin on the forehead changes, thickens (called "methofima"), the skin on the nose grows ("rhinophyma"). Acne rosacea differs from ordinary acne in that it does not have comedones.
What causes rosacea?
These reasons have not been finally established, but there are a number of factors (according to the results of statistical studies) that contribute to the development and progression of the disease.
These include:
- Skin prone to seborrhea
- Blood vessels close to the surface of the skin
- Violations of the vascular system (or rather, failures in the regulation of vascular tone by the trigeminal nerve)
- Photosensitivity (seen in fair skinned patients)
- Disorders in the gastrointestinal tract
- Dysbiosis (presence of Helicobacter pylori bacteria)
- Endocrine Disorders
- Ovarian dysfunction
A certain role in the progression of rosacea is played by a microorganism - saprophyte iron (or Demodex). This is a mite that aggravates the course of the disease, causing persistent inflammation, itching and burning (gives the feeling of a burning face). Due to the presence of the Demodex mite, this acne is often called demodicosis . But when conducting a bacterial analysis, Demodex is not always detected, therefore there is an opinion that Demodex is an optional factor in the development of the disease, and a consequence. That is, during the height of the disease, favorable conditions are created for the excessive reproduction of a microorganism - saprophyte.
- Scraping is done to identify demodex
- In a positive case, I prescribe trichopolum (clion, metronidazole) in tablets
- Topically, metronidazole in the form of a gel "metrogil-jelly" is applied to the affected skin
- Zinc paste is applied at night to dry the skin
- Sulfur-tar pastes and ointments are used ( Yam ointment )
- Vasoconstrictor drugs are used externally (wipe the affected areas): 1-2% resorcinol solution, 2% - boric acid solution, adrenaline solution (ampoules) - helps to narrow the vessels of the facial skin
- Herbal infusions - chamomile, string, freeze St. John's wort, and wipe the skin of the face with ice cubes instead of washing. Alternate cubes with types of herbs. St. John's wort should not be used before going outside, as it contributes to increased sensitivity to light. Rubbing with ice cubes trains the vessels of the face well.
- Cryotherapy (treatment of the skin with liquid nitrogen) allows you to remove facial redness - at least 10 procedures are required.
General therapy for rosacea consists of taking B vitamins, Nicotinic acid, Festal (for quick evacuation of food), Calcium Pantothenate. As a rule, such therapy is carried out within two months. In parallel, the work of the gastrointestinal tract and the endocrine system is being improved.
If Demodex is not found, then an analysis is made for the presence of the bacteria Helicobacter pylori
Consider the use of antibiotics from a number of tetracyclines
To exclude factors provoking the expansion of the blood vessels of the facial skin:
- Avoid exposure to subzero temperatures, wind, sunlight on the skin of the face, do not use a solarium
- Eliminate spicy, fatty and hot foods, alcoholic beverages, hot drinks from the diet
- Avoid baths, saunas, steam inhalation, heat from gas and electrical appliances
- For the duration of treatment, refuse to use decorative cosmetics
- Do not use scrubs to clean your face (cause additional injuries)
- In the acute course of the disease, do not perform skin whitening procedures
- Do not use corticosteroid ointments for treatment
All methods should be aimed at achieving a stable remission. In general, it is believed that rosacea (rosacea) is an incurable disease, but having achieved persistent and long-term remissions, one can count on normalizing the appearance of the facial skin, provided that a certain lifestyle is observed, based on the elimination of the above-described provoking factors.
After a stable remission is achieved, you can work with the removal of various defects that have arisen in the course of the disease:
- Remove scars and overgrown tissues with peeling (for rhinophyma, surgical methods of tissue excision are used)
- With telangiectasia , electrocoagulation, photocoagulation or cauterization of blood vessels with a laser are performed
- Skin redness is removed with gentle whitening products used for thin and sensitive skin (eg Skinoren cream)
If you tend to blush easily when laughing, angry, hot or cold, then start preventing rosacea with the annoying measures described in this article. And also do not forget to temper the vessels of the face by washing with ice cubes.
