Sacroileitis.
The junction of the pelvis and spine (sacroiliac joint), like other articular joints, can be vulnerable to disease. One of these diseases is sacroiliitis - inflammation of the sacroiliac joint. Depending on which structures of the joint are inflamed (synovial membrane, articular surfaces or the entire structure of the joint), manifestations of sacroiliitis are also distinguished.
Infectious diseases (tuberculosis, brucellosis, syphilis), autoimmune diseases, traumatic injuries or degenerative processes developing in the joint can become the cause of sacroiliitis. Often the cause of inflammation in the sacroiliac joint is overloading the spine when lifting weights, metabolic disorders that usually affect other joints.
Sacroiliitis makes itself felt with pain in the lower back, due to which a person is forced to be in a position with bent legs in the hip and knee joints.
Treatment of sacroiliitis depends on the causes of its occurrence. With purulent inflammation of the sacroiliac joint, surgical treatment, antibiotic therapy is used, in difficult cases, the joint is resected.
With infectious sacroiliitis, a microorganism is identified - the cause of the inflammation and specific antibiotic therapy is prescribed.
With sacroiliitis of a traumatic, degenerative nature or other non-infectious origin, treatment is carried out with anti-inflammatory drugs, analgesic blockages. After the removal of acute inflammation, physiotherapy is prescribed.
During and after the treatment of sacroiliitis, patients are recommended to wear special bandages and lumbosacral orthoses to reduce the load on the joint.
