Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis.
Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis is a preventive measure, the purpose of which is to prevent the disease, the development of which occurs as a result of a tick bite, which carries the encephalitis virus.
The vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis is recommended for people living in areas endemic to tick-borne encephalitis (forest zone and adjacent territories), visiting such areas for the purpose of recreation or agricultural, logging, fishing and other similar work.
Vaccines against tick-borne encephalitis are presented in several types:
- Encepur (adults and children) made in Germany;
- EnceVir made in Russia;
- FSMU-Immun Inject / Junior, made in Austria;
- Purified inactivated tick-borne encephalitis vaccine produced in Russia.
Depending on the chosen vaccine, a course of vaccinations is carried out, starting at four years old, then a year later the course of vaccinations (revaccination) is repeated. All subsequent revaccinations - every three years. The vaccination course is carried out no later than two weeks before the visit to a potential source of tick-borne encephalitis.
Contraindications to vaccination are acute periods of illness, pregnancy, severe allergic reactions.
