Who are psychopaths?
The word "psychopath" has become firmly established in the vocabulary of the layman and, at times, losing his temper and turning his anger at the opponent, he can break out: "You are a psychopath!" But who are psychopaths really? Does the person causing your resentment fit this definition?
In clinical psychology, psychopathic personality disorder is considered an abnormality. Many studies of psychopathic personalities have made it possible to identify the distinctive features of a psychopath from a normal person. In a generalized version, a psychopathic person is a person who has no conscience and does not know how to compassion. But, in fact, a psychopath has no moral values, does not know restrictions, understands what is "bad" and what is "good", but does not consider it necessary to attach importance to this.
Signs of psychopathy:
- The psychopath knows how to pretend, looks like an ordinary person;
- Achieves the intended goals in any way possible, without thinking about the consequences;
- The psychopath is distinguished by soberness, but often his explanation of his own actions allows for a logical inconsistency, which may not be noticeable to others;
- The psychopath is not very emotional, does not know how to empathize, is not capable of deep feelings, but is able to successfully imitate them;
- The psychopath is cunning, charming, polite, knows how to make an impression, which becomes a gain for him and a loss for a victim who will not be believed;
- The psychopath does not feel guilty, will repeat what he has done at any opportunity;
- The psychopath does not know the word "shame", is pathologically deceitful;
- The psychopath is a great manipulator;
- The psychopath disregards social norms and rules, ignoring their existence;
- The psychopath has poor control over anger.
A psychopath can only be recognized for a long time by observing his actions in various situations and giving them a correct assessment from the point of view of immorality. Usually, they begin to understand that they are dealing with a psychopath when he has already caused significant damage to the psyche, reputation or material well-being. It is from psychopaths that ideal maniacs are obtained - killers, whose images are reproduced in "murderous" thrillers.
