Kinesio taping.
Kinesio taping (kinesiological taping ) is a non-drug method for eliminating pain syndromes in muscle tissue, microcirculation disorders, neuropathies. Developed by Kenzo Kase in the 70s, but has become widespread today.
Kinesio tape is a cotton tape with an acrylic coating, which, due to its elasticity and thermoactive properties, when applied to the surface of the skin in problem areas, allows you to act on deeper layers of tissues (muscle, connective, fatty), on the vascular network and nerve fibers. The mechanism of action of the tape is similar to lifting and is based on decompression of tissues under the tape and activation of microvascular blood flow, which provokes an improvement in tissue trophism, creates a lymphatic drainage effect and thereby reduces inflammation.
The tape is applied in the form of an application in various ways (the length of the cut tape can vary from several centimeters to tens of them, the number of taped tapes varies depending on the task of applying the tape), when the tape is applied, its tension varies, which affects the tension of the skin, its lifting, strengthening or decreased muscle tone.
There are a number of contraindications for applying tapes to the skin:
- Skin diseases in the area of applying the tape,
- Infectious skin diseases,
- Open wounds (cuts, abrasions, punctures),
- Ulcerative-necrotic skin lesions,
- Pregnancy,
- Allergic reactions to the composition of the tape.
The reason for applying the tape may be contusion, sprain, inflammation of the joint, lymphostasis, removal of puffiness, impaired tissue neuroconductivity (numbness), fasciculations, neuralgia, circulatory disorders, fibromyalgia.
