Delayed allergic reaction - how to recognize it?
Allergic reactions of the body are of three types:
- immediate - develop immediately after or at the time of exposure to the allergen;
- slow - develop over many hours or 1-2 days (or after many hours, days) after exposure to the allergen;
- delayed - develop within the next few hours after exposure to the allergen.
It is very important for a victim of exposure to an allergic substance to understand that his poor health did not arise out of nowhere, but is the result of a slowly developing allergic reaction, which can turn into a life-threatening condition if you do not figure out what the person is dealing with in time.
Signs of a delayed, delayed allergic reaction:
- Swelling of the skin of the face or oral mucosa, vagina (may become noticeable when asymmetry occurs, for example, in facial features),
- Swelling of the neck,
- Difficulty breathing ,
- Sleepiness, lethargy, slow entry into slumber,
- Sore throat, cough,
- Redness of the skin of the face, neck, or other areas of the skin,
- Skin rashes (dots, blisters, spots),
- Itchy skin,
- Fever without obvious symptoms of poor health,
- Nausea, urge to vomit, vomiting,
- Runny nose, lacrimation.
Without an understandable cause for the occurrence, the symptoms listed above (or any individual of them) should cause concern in a person and suggest a delayed allergic reaction. In these cases, you should immediately seek emergency help, since the peak of the allergic reaction is still ahead, and it can be fatal.
